HI jon
Thanks for that. I have already decided that a bolt on keel is the best option. I have some ideas but a quick chat with someone who has actually used this method will help greatly. Thank you for taking the time to email me.
Kind Regards

john here couple of pics of my boat, the one with engine bay the boat still bit bow heavy so batteris moved aft to either side of the coupling that did the trick and got her up planning nicely.
when weather Improves and can get someone to be able to use camera will get some shots of her on the move

range safety

hI john yes Ive now got my new battery pack, 7.2volt saddle pack, I have the pack mounted either side of shaft in engine bay, she now gets up on the plane not too fast looks very authentic, need someone to take some pics as cant steer the boat and take pics at same time. I get about 10minutes run time, would like to get more than that, now thinking maybe lI po batteries, have you any experiance with them and if so do they give better duration.

hI john, thanks for your info, as Ive only just finished my model Im bit loathed to start hacking it about to get shallower shaft angle, think I will try for a split battery 7.2 volt and see what happens, will let you know how I get on may take a while as cant get anything here local. look forward to seeing photo of yours on the water.

ive cut away the central bulkhead , flush with the keel , my battery pack sits along the wide area of the keel , when I rebuilt my model it needed a new propshaft , so when I fitted my new stainless steel unit I filed the shaft hole at a shallower angle , Ive used a minI servo on its side for the rudder control and now on a standard 7.2 volt nicad pack get it running with the front half of the model clear of the water surface ! I will try to get a photo of it running tommorrow weather permitting , Im currently having to operate in the sea as my normal lake is frozen ! !

hI there you say you have mounted motor in fwd compartment and drive battery midships, has that got the boat up on the plane and is the prop shaft and tube not got in the way of battery pack Ie, battery is now high up in the model.
I was thinking to get a split pack of 7-2 volts from components-shop.co.uk to fit either side of drive motor, welcome your comments,

deck and hull

hi,

i'm having a problem with my fire boat. I was wondering how I could attach my deck to my hull, but still be able to take my deck off easily. I am building all the parts so any help would be appreciated. I was also wondering if I could use one rudder with two propellors, and if I could how do I know what size to choose (rudder size).
