Question of the Day?

PS: I'd be MOST curious to know to which fields Trump, the Loch Ness monster or the Flying Dutchman made ANY contributions. Relevant or otherwise!😆
I do agree though that Trump can not be a real individual. No human could be that nuts and so brazen with it. Must be someone's android whose positronic brain has run amok🤔

Question of the Day?

Now the answer options are getting just plain silly!🤔
Donald Trump would say he's met both Loch Ness Monster and the Flying Dutchman if it would win him a few votes.

Donald Trump did not get my vote, I did confuse him with the Loch Ness monster though.

Packed my bags and waiting for the knock on the door. My only hope now is that as Hungary is land locked, they might know less about nautical things than me. No. Time to hide.😬

Lucky old you Doogle! I sometimes sit in my car and think WTF am I?
So beyond the coast is a mystery, OK and yes I got it wrong. I have sunk from a high of 97% to just 90% now.

Question of the Day?

Belle parole Colin.

93% è un risultato eccellente su tantissime domande. Complimenti.

Nice words Colin.

93% is an excellent result on many questions. Compliments.
But 811 out of 924 is also an excellent result. This is the one from the UK members.
It's my 3 out of 3 which, for now, means nothing.

In fact, if I can suggest an improvement in the ranking and make it more fair and just, I would do this:
With the same percentage, the nation that answered the most questions overall goes ahead.
I don't know if I explained myself well.
So I would see first who does 100%, and among them I would put first who responds more. For example, Germany should be first because among those who always answered correctly, it is the one that provided the most answers.

This system would counteract a very simple strategy: "I'm better off answering only a few questions and only those where I'm certain of the answer."

Question of the Day?

Salve Nickthesteam.

Hi Nickthesteam.

It's right to think about it!

I'm not an expert but in my opinion, just think like this:

Position yourself on the indicated point and head south.
You can use a map or Google Maps or Google Earth.
However, you must follow a meridian to be sure that the route is perfectly south.
By doing this you will see that you will never be able to meet Brittany, which is the westernmost part of France.
To go to France from that point you have to go a little east as well as south.

If you have a map and a protractor you can precisely calculate the degrees of the route you need to set to reach, at least the westernmost tip of France. You will see that they do not correspond to the route to the south.

From Lands End you pass Ushant on the port side before traversing the Bay of Biscay... then if you stay on course you eventually ground on the northern shores of Spain.

Allessandro you are quite correct in your thinking, it's just a fun quiz but I do my best, my average is 93% so I'm not perfect.
We do our best, and it's nice to converse with you and other members from around the world, even though we speak different languages we all enjoy our chosen hobby.
I thank you for your efforts and I appreciate the translations on your posts which I attempt to read in your language, but not very successfully.

Question of the Day?

Hi Colin, don't get mad at your fellow Britons, hahahaha.
I have to defend them.
I think that those who participate most in this forum are citizens of the United Kingdom so it is normal for there to be a higher error rate.
The data from other countries with little participation is not very reliable.
For example, I answered very few questions, and it is normal that Italy (perhaps I am the only one participating in favor of my nation) has 100% correct answers.
But it is not a reliable statistic.
Probably, if the same number of citizens from other countries participated as the English do, there would not be such high percentages.

I think that too many of us rely on gps navigation rather than a chart and compass.
And us an island nation should be doing better than 9th place in this quiz.

I used to listen to the television on my radio. It was an old Bush transistor radio bought from the NAAFI in 1977.
I distinctly remember listening to Buck Rodgers ... biddy biddy biddy... and was so disappointed when I saw the programme on TV.
