I obtained some miniature operating cable from the model railway folk, which is like miniature bicycle brake cables. The railway modelers use it to manually operate the points. An old servo was modified to just revolve slowly and was fitted inside on the roof of the cabin with a rotating cam on it. The inner of the cable was made to push up and down the sheath of the cable and run to one side of the window. A wiper blade was soldered to the inner and this just slid across the windscreen back and forth through a slot at the very top of the windscreen as the motor revolved, sorry no photos of it. Hope you can follow that.

Thanks again des 😀

Hi! Des
hope you find these useful. Note the window detail with RIVETS done with a hypodermic needle and syringe filled with PVA adhesive, easy peasy. The windscreen wiper, radar scanner a lights and siren all worked.

HI Max
Brilliant pictures, just what I need. Appretiate all u can give. Especially fittings, prop/rudder, windows cabin (especially top) so just about anything you have really. Although the Solent was a wonderful workhorse it does not seem to have the same appeal as other classes and therefore not so many photos etc.
Thank you and all the others who have replied.very much appreciated. Des 😀

Another idea Des is peel offs, these are crafting things, small round dots that peel off a card and then stick on, you would have to do a search for them on crafting sites.

Thanks Alan. You are probably right. I was being lazy I suppose and just looking for something that either sticks on or gives the appearance of rivet heads
Thanks again

obtain a hypodermic syringe and fill with PVA adhesive
put little blobs on where required. Leave to set doesnt run or spread. I have used this many times. Ensure you paint or varnish over when completed to keep water off.

Think if it was mine I would use rivets, brass dolls house nails or brass dress making pins, depending on scale, as yours is 12th scale I would go with rivets, just my thoughts.
You can get some rivets from here

It's a firm in Poland, I have had stuff from them including rivets, no problems

Hi. Building a 1/12 solent lifeboat and will have to build window frames from scratch as nothing seems to be available off the shelf. Question Is how to Indicate the rivets that go around the frame. Thought about using small blobs of araldite but this spreads
Any Ideas welcome 😰
