A box has arrived.....

Hi Dave. I have digitised the templates and converted them to .dxf files for laser cutting. I will cut major parts from card first to test the files. I got the full kit less the running gear as I make my own shafts and I am fitting a steam plant so will make one to suit. When I built the MMS I re drew the relevant parts of the plan and 3D printed the decks, superstructure and around 50%of the fittings and everything went together perfectly. I have done a test piece with one of the deck overlays and the results are encouraging.

Hi Nick
Glad to hear you are impressed with the kit. With regard to the templates I would make card copies of each part and see how accurate each part is to the plan and your hull. As I mentioned I have built several of Mobiles' excellent kits and have had many useful and informative discussions with Brian and Ann at many shows. This is a complete builders model if you purchase all the packs, but the templates are to help you make the parts which will require some fettleing to final dimension and shape. The fibreglass hull is as you say of high quality but will need to be checked for accuracy and adjusted to the correct dimensions with internal supports. You can then check your card template parts and make any small adjustments before cutting your wood.
Looking forward to see how you progress once the bench becomes free!

You will pay 20% less as UK VAT will be removed as it is going abroard. It will be down to what ever import duty and or VAT you have to pay in Germany. Shipping will cost a little more. Drop them an email or phone as I'm sure other non UK residents will have bought from them....

Do I actually have to pay customs when I order such a boat in England and if not, do I have to report it to customs. I don't know about it at all.

Have to say that MMM are my go to place for fittings. Bought the A brackets for the BYMS from them, far superior than what I’ve bought before. Always quick delivery.

Hello Wolfgang... Quality is second to none, worth every penny. The hull is blemish free and ready trimmed and comes complete with unique serial number. The fittings are crisp and sharp with next to no flash and the drawings are clear and concise. I recommend these models for anyone from beginner to expert and help is on the end of a phone lone. If you get one you won't regret it.

Hi Nick
I was checking out the Mobile Marine website. Wow, what beautiful ships. But also very good prices, ok but if the quality is right, that's ok.

I won't be diving in for a couple of months yet. My mate has threatened to confiscate it (he's a retired teacher😀) if I dont finish the MMS and the Puffer first..

The big reveal folks! The boat is a Tollman, a River tug that worked on the Humber Trent and Ouse rivers from 1931 to the 1960s. She has a drop down funnel (which I will make operational) for clearing low bridges. This is the first MMM ship that I have done and I am most impressed with what I got for my money. The hull and fittings are first class and the accompanying plan, template sheets and photos finish the job off nicely. I have digitised the templates (I got them a couple of weeks ago) with a view to laser cutting all the parts. I have done a test piece, the forward deck overlay and I am pleased with the results. Miss Millicent the yard foreman is in attendance. 😎😎

This is my winter project. I have to finish off my MMS and Clyde Puffer first so it will be autumn before work commences proper. I am tempted to strech an arm across my benck and walk along it's length and get stuck in but common sense has prevailed and I will finish the other jobs first. I also have to build an engine and boiler for it...

Hi Nick
One of the most recent offerings from Mobile Marine. All their tugs make into great examples and I have two and sold another. We have had almost all of Mobile's offerings in the club over the years and I look forward to seeing how you progress.

I'm not sure on that one. There will be a skeg etc attached once building starts. I guess it's just a tug type stern.
