Many thanks for all the advice, I have some heatshrink to hand and have made a trial inch! more springs are on their way.

I Made mine out of springs and heat shrink you can but lengths of spring from model eng suppliers such as polly eng, they came out ok I think you can use drinking straws from some of the fast food places joined together and painted,

HS93's are by far the best I have seen!

mine are long straws from kids drink containers, painted matt black, with wire inside to keep the shape, and some car number plate scre caps to go on the end!
