This indicates the motors are drawing more than 15 amps which is the max rate for your ESC's. Whilst it works you may harm the ESC's if the current is often greater than the spec. The props are nt that big any chance of a pic to see the pitch? I am fairly sure your motors are not 12v and are being overpowered hence the high current. its also possible that they have been cooked prior to you acquiring the boat and have internal shorts on the windings. I would expect this to result in a hot smell after running the motors which would also be very hot to the touch.
If you keep slow you may be OK - problem is if you get in weed you may need full power and this may proove too much for the ESC's.

hI dave, the props are 4omm Iv put 2oamp fuses in and its been ok but I havent stalled the boat against the bank again. Iv been practacing being slow and accurate rather than blasting about...saying that though the little tug is much faster than a narrow boat doing 4 mph as Iv raced a few 😁

Can't be sure but they look like Graupner Decaperms. its possible they are 6v motors and will not be too happy with 12v. The ones I have are quite noisy gear wise so if yours are the same chances are that's what they are.
I don't believe your props are tight as they run OK until you stall the boat.
You have not said what size props are fitted - could be they are too big for the motor.
Do the motors get hot after they are run?

HI Grace, it's almost Impossible to tell what those motors are, but the little bits that can be seen look a bit like the motors I have in my pusher tugs.
they are out of battery drills. if they are those sort they take quite a lot of amps when pushing all that water, or pushing a canal boat 😁
I only have one 18volt drill motor per boat driving a 50mm 3 blade prop and they need a 25 amp ESC and a 20 amp fuse, and while fighting with other pushers (last man floating game) will on occasions still melt a 20 amp fuse.

hi. Iv fitted a pair of mtronic viper 15 amp esc's..each having there own 15amp fuse servicing each esc..........it runs nicely and does move some water..if I put the tug against the bank and throttle it up it blows the fuse on each motor..I ran the leeft motor gradually increasing power and fuse blew..I repeated this with the right engine and it did the same......can you tell me what these motors are please and what power should draw??

If you measure the amps drawn by each motor they should be within a few milliamps of each other. A geared motor under no load should not be drawing more than 1 or 2 amps so if you blew a 10amp fuse this suggests a problem. Your prop and motor should both turn freely and any tightness in one prop may be an indication. Sometimes the lock nuts on the propshaft can work loose and then tighten on the bearings making the shaft tight. Two ESC's will make your pusher tug very manouverable and more suited to its intended purpose, but sort the motors out first. I'm assuming here that the 10amp fuse was fitted to the model as supplied and that the motors are not high current racing motors, which may need a higher fuse, provided the ESC is capable of carrying the higher current.

please help

all sorted it was the brand new servo that was dodgy.....I changed it for an expensive one out of my nitro truck and alls well..........I bought a pusher tug to play with whilst I got lady jan sorted.11.45pm I thought id drop the pusher tug in the water and have a play with it, (it has lights 😶 )as soon as I gave it some power it blew the main 10 amp fuse and left it dead in the water,eventualy I retreaved the pusher tug and headed for the engine room (I live on a 62ft tug)and sorted lady jans servo issues now 2am 😁 ..............


problem number 2............my pusher tug has a pair of geared motor's running one esc..my plan is to run each motor independantly via a pair of esc's.....how do I test and see if one of the motors is drawing to much power?? I have a dc clamp meter that test amps????

hi, Im now on 2 channel analog and its the same esc works in both ports of the receaver but the servo freaks out.........im a bit stuck with it...

HI Grace, are we saying the motor works fine, through the esc? if so, plug the esc into the channel that is currently the rudder, using the rudder stick, the motor should run, that eliminates the servo, however, a boat rudder, which is right stick left/right movement is marked up on your rx as "aerlion"

I have a feeling you have plugged into the wrong channels. The rx is marked up to suit rc planes, so, assuming the tx is mode 2 throttle on left, the throttle is correct, the channel marked Aerlion (AIL) is your rudder (right stick moving right/left), on rc planes/helis the rudder channel is on the left stick moving left /right!

That leaves elevator on your rx, that is right stick up/down, then channel 5 is an auxiliary channel.

I use all the channels on some of my boats, My Orca (Jaws boat) uses throttle, rudder, sound unit, lights, smoke unit! 😀 Busy sticks!

hi, Iv bought a mobile marine lady jan........its a completed model......its running a t12 motor.......electronize fr15hvr esc......and a futaba steering servo all good so far...I bought a planet 2.4g 5 channel radio for It......I put the radio In, the esc worked fine,the steering servo threw a wobbler when you turn the transmitter on.......the steering servo stopped working........I replaced the servo with a cheapy from the local model shop.that did the same..so I changer the receaver and tranny to an analog set and the steering servo still playing up doing the same.swapped the esc for a new mtronics esc still the same...iv swapped the wiring extension to the steering servo Incase that had shorted even took the servo out the boat and collected It straight to the receaver..the main 12v battery Is charged up.........................iv had a fare amount to do with rc cars mainly fg 5th scale and nitro.....this has got me completely lost...PLEASE HELP!!!!! 😭
