Aerokits 46" power

Hello - thanks for your trouble & time to signpost this - results look pretty Impressive -tell me what do you do after the 15mins duration- change battery packs ? - I wondered if a motorcycle battery would be any good 'cos I think the hull is big enough and bouyant enough to hold one. I'll also contact Mike re fittings. I'm going to the funday tomorrow at Branston to have a nose around too and talk to as many folks as possible.
Cheers

Aerokits 46" power

If you want to get performance similar to the Merco using electric power you will have to go brushless. We have done this successfully with the 46" Crash Tender and the details are on this website:-
To see the boat in both static and action pictures (well up on the plane) go to the Photo Gallery and select Fire Boats. Go to the entry by mrpthesailor dated 13/11/08 on page 2.
To check out the power set up go to Your Power Setup section and scroll down to the entry by mrpthesailor dated 13/11/2008. Here is a link to the power setup:-

A power setup like this does not come cheaply but the results can be Impressive. Duration will depend om how you sail the boat, with realistic cruising mixed with high speed runs should give about 15 mins.

Aerokits 46" power

Hello everyone - so here's the problem. 35 years ago I built this 46" Aerokits firetender and have carried It around ever since. I built It with a Merco 61 10cc IC motor and a single 2 bladed prop etc etc 'cos the technology at the time for electric power wasn't very good. It was VERY fast - but VERY unreliable after only a few minutes. So after 35 years (yes the hull Is still completely watertight)I've stripped all that out, thinking that electric power would be good/reliable/useable/fast now - however Torpedo 850 or graupner which have been recomended are said to be about only a third of the performance - not even up and planing - and only last for half an hour max. I'm doing the cosmetic renovations - anyone know about deck fittings and decals - and want to stay with one shaft If poss. AAaaagh - help plse suggestions welcomed
