Thank you LewZ good suggestion. I see you have many springer tugs. I should have thought of that when I was building her. 😁

Com-H, it might be the reason for a "terrible" reverse is caused by cavitation. I had this problem with my conventional style towboat and had to add about 3/4inch to the transom. Your Kort nozzles appear to bee too close to the transom. You might try to shorten the length of them.
Some ways to check this is to look at the transom while running 🏃‍♀️ in full reverse and see if the water is dipping down. Also see if there are any bubbles along the sides of the boat.

Commadore H I am not sure if any modifications I am going to make, its a work in progress thing and see as we go. Not the best way too do things and it is a break from my usual plan in advance methods but its a fun boat and I am just having fun.
Nice work on the Kort nozzle.

I’ll be looking forward to some pix of your twin engine version. My little towboat steers really well because of kort nozzle. Kort nozzle was made by cutting off a plastic bottle. Reverse is terrible because of hull shape. Are you planning modifications?

Zippkits is a pleasure to do business with and their kits are made from top quality plywood and beautifully laser cut. I am building a twin motor Springer right now.

While the Zippkits Springer was mentioned I thought I pass this on... I asked Zippkits if they could send me some thin hobby grade plywood pieces, cut-offs, etc. They sent me a selection of pieces (1/16 & 1/8 inch thick) for a very reasonable price. The pieces were usable, not small scraps. Hard to find in stores.

Thank you for the pictures!! It is so costly to get these kits shipped from Florida all the way up to Canada and imported, not to mention the difference on the dollar, that last time I ordered a few of the kits at the same time along with the 650 KV brushless Motors and of course the drivetrains so I probably have several winters of projects. You have done a very creative thing with the superstructures 👍👍👍

Sure

The Springer tug started out as a Zipkits model that I won as a prize at a boat meet. When Covid hit I needed something to play with so built the hull and replaced the superstructure with my own design. It has a single screw, 540 motor, and kort nozzle. It has operating lights and radar.

Commodore h I would love to see some more pictures of that lovely Springer tug that is in the background, in fact there are a number of us on here that are avid tug people that I'm sure they would also like to see a number of shots of it

Try videoing it at slower cruising speed so we can see the detail of your model as it cruises past please.

That's a nice care you have, what is it?

I believe the motor is an Astro 05. It's what I had on hand that fit into the case. It has a Viper ESC. Prop was something that was lying around also.

Here is the battery that is running the boat in the video, 8 cell, 9.6V, 1600 mA, NimH. It is small but powerful and lightweight, an eBay purchase. I think it was meant for an airsoft gun. It runs the boat for quite a long time. There is plenty of room inside if I want to put a second one in parallel. It's a nice kind of battery because you reshape it to fit in a small space.

Since building that little boat (22 inches), someone sold me another outboard motor from Aquacraft which I like better than the one I have. I think they are quite rare. Now I am thinking if I can get another one of those cheap it would be cool to make a boat with twin outboards.

That's a neat little boat. What motor have you got in the outboard and what size battery are you running her on. Will you be putting the outboard on a different boat at all, or will you be adding any longer video on here??

Hey it worked! 😁

Ok a few more pictures. This is an outboard powered sport fisherman a built a few years ago because I wanted to try an outboard. The outboard came as empty case from Graupner and I adapted a motor to it. I purchased the hull on eBay. Fancy graphics from Callie. The boat is entirely fictional I just made it up to try the outboard
