The colour scheme of the RTTL that we had running in our club back in the early 1960's had a black hull with red undersides, grey superstructures with white cabin tops - just like the colours used on the Aerokits fire and rescue launches.

I have no idea what colour scheme's were used on these launches (in real life) over the years, but no doubt there would have been some changes.

We had one of these Vic Smeed RTTL launches in our local club back in the early 1960's and it was powered by a Gannet 15cc petrol motor. Not overly fast but it look really good and sounded nice too!

The actual photograph that Sarik used is actually of the Vosper I built. It is built plank on frame and somewhere on Mayhem Forum - there is a build of my model which I put on there. If you can source the magazine The Model Maker 1958. It was a Christmas special. The plans were inside that mag. I believe it ran over 2 months - the original build by Vic Smeed

Since the plans original release back in 1958 there have been several kits produced of this model. Some of which were semi scale and some to scale. The kits sometimes turn up on a well known auction site. But, be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for them.

The kit I was thinking of was the Veron kit; but, I do know there have been several models made from the original plans and it is a straight forward build. If you take your time.
