Coast Guard 47 MLB help

Yes. Typically comes up from the drive but this is reduced by loads of marine grease. During operation, the other issue is water coming in from the rear hatch. Many ways to help ”reduce” but seems unstoppable. The only way to absolutely proof it is to seal it closed defeating the purpose of having it removable. The Midwest adds a raised lip on the deck around the inner hatch to help prevent water but both Midwest and proboat have the same issue. The proboat cuts the water more aggressively and in doing so, funnels water towards the rear deck. I noticed this during slow motion filming of the boat. Another area is the rudder shafts. All this being said, I’ve run pretty aggressively with my builds and tried many ways to slow the water getting in but even still, it’s not enough to sink it. You can tell when the water weights it down. It’s at that time I bring it in and give it a drain.

Have any of you who built or has a USGC 47' MLB experienced continously seemingly unsolvable leaking?

I’ve built a couple 47’ MLBs- one modified and the other bone stock.

Build logs are in detail on RC groups website with tons of photos.

Or google Search these titles:

“Proboat 47' MLB US Coast Guard rebuild of the motor lifeboat”

And the other is the stock older proboat complete rebuild:

“Should I destroy my Proboat 47' MLB USCG? Reconstruction starts at ground zero”

Lewz I wasn't able to go into the lower decks they were having a crew meeting below. they were very nice to me though.
Jumpugly gave me a great link to below deck in the helm, I believe there was a photo of the engine room also on his link.
I will only be doing the lower helm as do to the electronics for RC there is no room. I suppose to get some drawing from Seattles Museum that I hope will give me some insights to interior. And lookin to go to the Surfmans school at the mouth of the Columbia river. Ilwaco, Washington. Most hazardess Bar in the USA. I have fished there many years going out on the bar.

Wow! Nice pic's Bruce (1946). Interesting though, not a clear shot of the inside of the transom. That's where most modelers get it wrong, including ProBoat's RTR.

Bruce (1946) - can't tell you what the difference between versions are. Sometimes the boat builders will share information (sometimes not).

I do remember there are some videos out there where the CG will give tours of the boats. You might try that and capture a few screen shots.

Jumpy
I'm looking for the older version. My model is at least 15 years old. So I committed to the older version.
Again thank you

Bruce: The Flickr photo is 12 years old unfortunately. So it might not have the upgrades.

Coast Guard 47 MLB help

I'm building a 47' MLB 1:16 scale and need some help. I'm looking for older versions of this boat. I need some photos of the inner and outer helm areas, showing counsels panels and such.
Thank you for any help
