Blast from my past

Another example of the Dumas 36" shovelnose hydro. This was my second build many years ago. RR

Blast from my past

This one none of the kit was used, the original parts were used as templates to cut aircraft quality birch ply parts and it was skinned with the same type of ply.

Wonderful kits, easy to build, but all the work went into the finish. Much like the real thing!

Jumpugly you are correct, it was a Dumas kit but the streamlining was custom made using glass fibre.
I had the smaller Dumas Thriftaway Two with a Veco .19,
Also quick but nowhere near the speed of this one.

FANTASTIC Ed! Looks like the classic 36" Dumas Miss Unlimited shovelnose kit. Those nitro O.P.S. marine engines screamed!

Here's my Dad's ancient fire damaged 36" that I restored as Miss Wahoo. The smaller version Dumas kit was sold as the 24" Miss Thriftway. I did up my damaged Miss Thriftway as the legendary Hawaii Kai. Both kits were black as pitch and crusty, but the wood hardened from the heat like stone. I was happy with the resto on both.

Blast from my past

Found this picture of one of my fathers boats. This was taken in the early ‘70s. It was very fast and very noisy.
Wish I had one of it running, the rooster tail was really impressive.
