It's very hard to believe this is a scale model of any ship ever built. Perhaps the prisoner that made this supposedly built it using what scraps and tools he had available. Although it is apparent that this is a product of his imagination it is unique and kept his mind alert during incarination. Good for him. This is somewhat parallel to many of us "older gents" held captive by old age - comfort for the mind.
"Thank God for models, otherwise they would not have ideas for the real things." (Paraphrased from Best in Show.)

Looks rather like a version of a 15th century Chinese War Junk / Treasure Ship. Probably derived from the Javanese Jong, a large trading ship. Bit different from today's Junk.
See top of left column in attached pic.
Musta bin a bit top heavy, as Mary Rose and Vasa also were😮

Given that it was built by POWs they would have been building with limited resources.
And most likely from sketches made from memories of life and hobbies from better days.
A most remarkable job under the circumstances.
Just my Two Yens worth😁
Cheers All, Doug😎
Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug

Hi Majorray, I believe (indeed I'm certain) that the model is pure fantasy.
Not only is the individual ship pure fantasy, but also the type of ship.
You can understand it at first glance, however I'll give you some details.
The hull looks like (but I say looks like it is certainly not the same) as a galleon, or rather an older type of ship like the carracca.
But neither the galleon nor the carrack had jib-type sails (there seems to be one here). These older ships had the so-called Civada sail on the bowsprit (I don't know how civada is translated).
The trees are too close together.
The superstructures above the forecastle and the quarterdeck have no counterpart in any ship that has ever existed. Never seen anything like this. I think they would capsize the ship if they existed.
I've never seen closed tops.
The shrouds could not be positioned like this in any ship.
In my opinion it is a stylization of an ancient ship made by someone who had no historical or naval knowledge but based it on his mental memories and based on his imagination.
This is not a criticism. The object may be liked by many but it is not a reproduction of any existing ship (as much as one wants to indulge in stylization).
I hope you will not be disappointed by this opinion of mine, perhaps someone will contradict me.

I think this is rather a fanciful idea of a galleon. The fore and aft castles are very high and rather top heavy. It is very detailed and looks rather a fun model.

The bowsprit is totally unbelievable and it looks more like a candlestick holder.
Sorry if this not what you wanted to hear but it is only my opinion and may just be fanciful.

Interesting!

A friend of mine recently bought a static model of a galleon I think it could be from Turkey if they had galleons my friend would really like to find out about what ship it is and i thought some one might recognize it or the class of it in one of the pictures there is a label that tells when the model was made so put your thinking caps on and see if someone can come up with any info thanks
