Sealing Joints

I used epoxy from west system to build by Venice water taxi as it is so verstile. I used the resin mixed with mahogany sanding dust to make the glue to join the planks (the boat is made from mahogany so it matches) You can buy micro balloons to add to made a filler or glue. The epoxy is the best waterproofing you will buy. If the wood has other coatings on it they will need to be removed before using epoxy. Hope this helps. Cheers Ian 👍

Sealing Joints

What do the forum use to seal joints in wooden boats? I have been using JB Weld but it's quite expensive and you don't get much. I always use woodscrews when fitting joints in tongue and groove floorboarding that I use, (I over ordered when repairing a floor so I thought I'd try and make some boats with the excess). I've read on the forum that PVA glue is used quite a lot and reasonably priced. Cheers Spence.
