I usually use Clearcote sealer, but it really depends on the acrylic you have used. Certainly a good idea and a silk version will look better than a gloss.
You will have to try a small area first to make sure the sealer does not have any adverse effect.
I use light coats and leave time for drying between coats as you will have used when airbrushing.
Acrylic is waterproof once dry but will accept finger dirt marks so a sealer is always a good safety net as well as providing an extra protection against the odd knock - well with my sailing anyway.
