Pats QOD 21/08/25

Hi Pat, I'll let you know how things are going.
Unfortunately, it won't be turned into a museum.
It will be given to Indonesia as you predicted, but it won't be sold as you were hoping.
It will be given away for free.

RFA Olna fleet tanker.. Fort George was lying in Birkenhead prior to break up, as was her sister before being flogged to the Egyptians (yes, they still have flogging in the UK). The other is Gold Rover, 'cos it's written on the transom...
If it don't fit, use a hammer to make it fit....

Hi Pat,
ex Navy and currently member of the MVS Portsmouht don't need a second look to recognise these RFA ships. Olwen, Fort George, and Gold Rover. All scrapped. Not many left now!

It's definitely the most cost-effective option.
We'll see.

It's very small for the job, but I really liked it (even though I'm not a big fan of asymmetric ships).

Hi Pat, thanks, but using the internet it's very easy to do a photo search and it's hard to go wrong.
I don't take any credit for it.
You use photos from the web, so it's easy to find them infallibly.
I wasn't good this time; I just used the internet.

Speaking of decommissioned ships, the same fate was befalling the STOVL aircraft carrier (classified as C cruiser) Giuseppe Garibaldi C551. It was replaced by the Cavour (C550) and the Trieste (L9890).
Have you ever seen the Garibaldi?
Two options are currently being considered: either turning the ship into a museum or selling it to the Indonesian navy.

The first photo shows an Olwen-class ship.

The Ol-class ships were:
• RFA Olwen (A122): Launched in 1964 as RFA Olynthus, renamed Olwen in 1967, and decommissioned in 1999.
• RFA Olna (A123): Commissioned on 1 April 1966.
• RFA Olmeda (A124): Commissioned on 18 October 1965.

The second photo shows the
RFA Gold Rover.

The third photo shows RFA Fort George.

For data and description, see the link at the end.

Hi Pat and Edw, I have the answer, but I did a quick search online.
Can I still provide the answer?

Hi Shippers

A different recognition question today - not sailing ship or warship related - so name that ship

Good Luck

Pat
