46" fireboat monitors

If you are looking for non working monitors, speak to Lesro. As part of their "new" 46" kit they are supplying a nice fittings kit which they will sell separately for about ÂA£38. I will hopefully be getting a set for my 46" refurb

Gregg,
Pumps that some of us use in our boats are out of 4X4's and there are different types one can buy ( after market) "low volume & high volume" I'm sorry I should've made it clear that I was talking about the high volume pump which pump's 4lts/min. We like to display a mass of water with different colours ( I will find a photo looks good) so Gregg and anyone else reading this, I'm sorry for not making it clear what pump I was talking about.

CAR pumps are a good way of pumps water out and there is nothing wrong with them, All of us have used and are still using them with great results and they do use about 3-5amps of power (depends on type used) when I talk about cheaper option ( $AU15.00 - $AU20.00) there are some very nasty pumps out there that we should stay away from...

I guess it all comes down to how much water you want to move and most of all Buget.

I did'nt want to upset anyone !! I only wanted to show that we all need to watch the power used in some of the electrical items we put on our boats and I know Gregg will agree with me on that!!!

Please remember I'm in Australia prices are higher for items over here againest yor prices and some items we use are different to your's, Like water pumps ( Have you tried to wash a kangaroo off your windscreen !!!) high volume is the way we go on our land....

15 amps to run a car washer pump !! ??

How come when its fittted to a car it only has a 10amp fuse inline then? and thats only to protect it if the washer fluid freezes.

15amp, I dont think so.

I'd suggest its more likely to be a continual running draw of 3amps max.

geared pumps are good, dont get me wrong, but depends on how deep your pockets are at the end of the line.

pay top whack and get the best, but if you're running to a budget, then simply get the best you can afford is I think even Shane wil agree with me here.

its your option and your budget on components.

my dusseldorf runs a single 12v car washer pump on 3 monitors, no problem and no desperate overdraw on current either.
I also run a sun tug with 3 graupner monitors [smaller nozzles] and still a car type washer pump runs them fine, afterall, you're not about to realistically put fires out with them, simply prove they work and have a decent "range" of fire. no ones going for "how long can your boat squirt water for" [ha ha].
Best wishes.

O.k
I' going to open a can of worms here or make a death wish but here goes...

All will agree that drive motors are not all the same, we look at getting as much power from the motors with little drainage on the batterys.. All agree "AGREE"

Pumps are no different !! We have pumps and then there are pumps. I'I go through the spec's on some pumps for you..

Graupner pumps

6-12volts
pump 1.2lts min
amps used on 12v (12amps)

Robbe Pumps

6-12volts
1.3lts min
amps used on 12v (10amps)

PG3 pumps ( Import)

6-12 volts
pump 1.9lts min
amps used on 12v (3amps)

All these pumps are geared and about the same price $AU25.00 - $AU30.00

Now, I'm not saying that other pumps are no good !! we all have our own way of setting boats up and items used..

I have ran a wiper pump in a tug for a while with great results.....BUT it uses 15amps of power to run it !!

sometimes a cheaper option is not always a good option (I have learnt the hard way as well )

it all comes down to how much time you want to spend driving your boat on the water ???

I'm sorry if I have upset anyone I don't mean to...

Try buying a water pump from a car accessory shop, they can supoply 12volt as normal but can also get 6 volt versions and are far cheaper and more reliable than some pumps around.

I dont know if the "robbe" or "graupner" ones could be adapted to replicate the actual ones you need, but may be worth a look at if you cant get original looking kit. these 2 companies make fully operating ones that can both fire water and raise/lower too, depending on how much operation you are willing to put in to them. if you check my boat build blog for "dusseldorf fireboat" you will see some pic of the robbe monitors to give you an idea, there are some graupner ones either on ebay or some of the boat shops online to check out pics of those types.

hope this helps.
Best wishes.
