what Is this controller?

all
it was definately connected between the motor and battery, and has a wired in servo lead..

I wasnt sure if it was a "proper" speed controller or a staged on/off/reverse type switch, it was the huge relay that had me wondering what it might be rated at? it was driving quite a big motor (700 size)

the use of "mains" cable to connect it all was purely a coincidence.. typical of the quality installation it was taken from.. I just had to unscrew the dozen or so domestic choc-block connections to free it from captivity

thought I might be able to use it in one of my smaller boats, it originated from a 49" Perkasa 😊

thanks for the info

You're right. For some reason I didn't see the 6v coil rating :-/

Sorry guys, I'd agree it was a speed controller now!

yep but if you look at the relay it says its a 6v coil as used in a lot of rc speed controllers I have just replaced a relays in a electronize one this week with virtually the same relay,

I beg to differ.
I am certain this is a speed controller. The chip was standard pre ESCs. The relay will be a 5/6 coil volt. The 250 volts relates to the power rating. The heavy wires will connect to the battery and motor. The two trim pots control servo deadband and max speed.
Please do not put this anywhere near mains voltage. If anyone is interested I have several circuit diagrams for similar speed controllers.

what Is this controller?

I've just had a closer look at what information I can gleam from the components mounted on the board...

Firstly it's not a speed controller, it has a 240V AC relay with a mains cable attached, I presume with a plug on the end?

I just did a close up on the microchip also to read the code on the top. it has a code number of: ZN409CE which if you google it returns a result for a "Precision Servo" integrated circuit.

I would then assume that the potentiometers on the top of the board can be turned to rotate a servo attached to what looks like servo leads coming out of the side.

Hope this helps! (But don't shout if I'm wrong 😀 )

Could be an old Maplins speed controler.
