Really like the look of Rebecca's fast patrol boat, great finish. Definitely considering building one in the same fashion as my recently completed Sea Urchin, but also considering brushless power - I reckon a motor with around 1000kv coupled with a 2s lipo or 7.2v buggy pack should do well - of course the lipo pack is much lighter, but the extra weight of the nimh buggy pack might help keep the boat manageable in our back yard pond😉.

Any way, I'll have to be content with enviously looking at your example - I have a grandchild's toy trainset to finish first...

Nothing to do with being brushless. Problem would be with having too high a kV motor and battery voltage. I use brushless in all my builds including two very slow river cruisers and in the ongoing build of a motor sailer.

I have brushed motors in a couple of ready-to-run boats and they would be too fast for Clockmaker's daughter. In fact they can be too fast for me if flat out on our club water!

@mjbb1951 Yes it was an issue but we did manage to get it to purr along at quite low revs first problem was it was smoother in reverse swapping two of the motor wires over made it smoother in forward playing with Flysky transmitter endpoints right down to 12% gave a beautifully quiet top speed that my disabled daughter could control and have fun with.

To me that is the down side to brushless, silly revs. Ok in the right boat 😄
