@Ronald
Ronald, thank you so much for taking the time to share this information and these wonderful photographs!
I really appreciate the effort you’ve made to clarify the history of Hellen and Eileen.
Having access to the original kit drawings and photographs from someone who actually built Hellen is a real treasure for those of us who love these beautiful traditional working boats.

It’s wonderful that you’ve helped clear up the confusion and allowed us to appreciate the differences between the two versions.
Thank you again, Ronald, for sharing your knowledge and for going the extra mile to help us understand the story behind these lovely models.

Beautiful work, Lew! Congratulations on a wonderful model. The detailing is excellent, and she looks just as impressive sailing forward as she does in reverse! 😄

I especially enjoyed the photo of the pilot in the wheelhouse.
He certainly looks comfortable in those shorts! I guess when you're the captain of your own vessel, you can establish your own dress code.
Who needs foul-weather gear when you're sailing in Florida? 😂⛵

And renaming her Elena after your wife is a lovely touch. Fair winds to you and Elena!

My "Hellen" renamed Elena (wife). A wonderful sailing boat, forward and reverse!

Roy you are correct there were two yhd Hellen and the Eileen but this was the” Hellen” I have it from a good source who built her and supplied these photos. Harry also send me PDF copies of the drawings from the kit.
Hellen (H.96), fishing boat; Model: Harold Hartigan; Photo © Peter Taylor (2010)
One is a plastic hull version of Hellen and the other is Eileen as Roy suggested
There were two versions of the vessel each has a different wheelhouse configuration but both are double enders

Hi the fishing boat may have originated in the now Sarik plan Eileen there is also another kit version of this boat. The name Eileen is the name that springs to mind.

A gentleman from down under feels it is the old Artesania Latina Hellen kit from 1997. I think he nailed it. ;)

To me, it looks like a type of working or fishing vessel that has been very popular among Brazilian fishermen. Many similar boats are reportedly still active in Brazilian waters today. Vessels of this general type or tradition can also be found in other countries, including Russia, Norway, and Switzerland.

What makes this particularly interesting is the history of working vessels during World War II. Some boats played important roles in supporting the Allied war effort, including transporting ammunition and supplies for the French.
I haven’t yet confirmed whether this particular design was used for that purpose, but it would certainly be interesting to find out.

I’ve attached photographs of *ARTUR, my own version of this type of vessel, which I built myself*. Perhaps comparing the hull, cabin, and working equipment might help someone identify the original boat or the model kit used by the young lady’s late father.

Hopefully, someone in the community will recognize this vessel and help her learn more about her father’s beautiful work. It would be wonderful to help preserve the story behind his model!
