I went to Hobby king, And got one of there 3s 30c, ran it in series with my main drive battery, they are £17 odd plus post & package. Save a bob or two 😯 . Regards Dave 👍 👍

Its designed for 24v and using a lower voltage may not work.
Component Shop stock a small unit that converts 12v to 24v and I used one to repair a friends 24v smoke unit so I know it works.
You could use a separate small12v battery in series with your main battery. The unit doesn't need much current so you could use pencells. I seem to recall 24v worth of pencells being recommended at one of the shows I attended.

I built mine with a minI foggier from Maplins, they sell the enclosures for the unit. They run off 24v. I hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
