Wiring Tamiya connectors

Thanks Derek. That's put my mind at rest!

Wiring Tamiya connectors

The advantage with those connectors is they are easily available from even the most basic of Model shops. They are fine for all but the high performance, high current drain models, and are one of the few that don't have to be soldered in place.
The female part can open up occasionally, however can easily be squeezed together again.

Thanks Derek. Would you recommend using a different sort of connector? The motor I am using is a mono perm and will not draw much (3A). I also have two drum sail winches and one arm sail winch.

I usually just crimp the wires in place, but I now only use them for connecting low current wires ie lights etc between hull and removable superstructure. They can be soldered after crimping if you wish.
They push in from the rear. The "barbs" on the pins grip and prevent removal.
If possible & neg are critical, get them the right way round. You only have 1 chance.

Hi

I want to make up some cables using Tamiya connectors (as pictured). Which way do you push the connector into the housings and do you need to solder them on?

I know this must seem like a basic question but I have never used them before.

Edward
