HI Dave, as you I didn't have any problems with the change over, in fact my main pc is 15 years old next month and is running 10 smoothly and faster than xp. This computer originally was on millennium. And my phone changed over 6 months ago with the Beta version and so changed really smoothly as well. I like it a lot. Best wishes Colin.

Cnet is really for programmers and I would agree it is not for all computer users.

Win 10 is not as bad as expected and I changed all my PC's in the summer. Was already running Win 7 to 8.1 and all updates were in place before I migrated. All my peripherals and programs were working OK and continued to work after the upgrade so personally had no problems. The update was a concern initially as I have had some bad experiences in the past, but not with Win 10. I allow updates and my PC is always on, albeit in sleep mode, so updates occur seamlessly and with no disruption to my usage. My WiFI hub is protected but you do need to also set the sharing restrictions on any other kit (PC / TV etc) that have WiFI as the default setting is often unprotected.

Regarding the App I personally use a bookmark on my web browser to open this site. I have set for the bookmarks to appear at the top of the page and can access most of my frequently used sites this way.

I would have worries about downloading from them but the webpage giving data seems to be clean.

other than that I am glad to hear your on top of the windows 10 privacy issues and hope others do indeed take note.

Thanks for your reply, but as I am a retired network engineer I have made sure my system's are secure. I hope others have read your reply, but I certainly wouldn't use the cnet site as I have had some bad experiences with them. Thanks Colin.

if you search you will see a whole lot of people are worried by this "opt out" rather than "opt in" default setting.
