fireboat fittings

HI Jim,

I fitted out my Fireboats running gear after chatting to a really helpful bloke at the Blackpool Model Boat show, with hindsight it may be a little bit overpowered but then I'm not particularity interested in scale speeds.

The motor is a JP Energ Brushless outrunner IC 60 0/R670 (C50-20) which is controlled by a Fusion Hawk 100 amp brushless speed controller and powered by 12v 5000mAh NiMH batteries. it is fitted with a single shaft using a 5mm prop shaft as opposed to the normal 4mm primarily because of the big motor, the prop is 50 mm 4 bladed brass.

Hope this is of some help to you. if you could raise Alan P (try a pm) from his slumbers in Cumbria 😁 he will probably give you an alternative as he has gone the twin shaft route, ask him to direct you to the pictures of his build, the quality is brilliant - only because its Christmas Alan 😁 😁

Thanks captain Flak I shall give them a ring. could you give me an idea of your power set up please, battery, prop, esc, single or twin.
I am a bit confused as to weather to go brushed or brushless also.

fireboat fittings

HI Jim,

Try Vintage Model Works, Tel. 020 8542 3100, they do a complete set of fittings for the 46 inch fireboat mainly in white metal, a complete window set and a set of waterslide transfers. http://www.vintagemodelworks.co.uk

I have their 46 inch fireboat kit and have found them to be extremely helpful.
