Model Slipway Tsekoa

Thanks Dave, I have a Rother & 54" steam coaster on belt reduction 600's and theyre great. As you say different boats need different things. After talking at the club yesterday, I'm now looking at Brushless outrunners 1000kv. Quicrun do some decent low cost controllers. I've used their brushed version on a few boats.
Cheers all.

HI Derek
The speed 600 are a good motor for fast planing boats, but are rather heavy on the current draw and don't start well at low revs. ideally you need some low current high tork 500 size motors. Slipway used to sell a low current version for their Trent kits and Component Shop stock a 555.
Assuming your batteries are 4AHr I am not surprised that they don't last long. Your only viable option to improve the duration is to replace the 600s with a low drain motor. The added benefit will be easier control round a steering course.

I'll look at smaller props, just think they are going round a bit fast, but with new props and slight reduction on speed may work.
Thanks

HI Derek

Possible cheep fix, a smaller set of props would reduce the load on the motors, or, it could be your batteries are past there best, a pair of NI Mh 6volt 3800ah batteries from Component shop might be the answer

Model Slipway Tsekoa

HI all. I have owned a Tsekoa for many years (ready built), but not used it much, or should I say for long periods.
It is direct drive with standard twin 600's. I've always known it was too fast so have slowed it down on the Electronize speed controllers. But I don't get duration from it for steering competitions.
I noticed recently that a lot of them on various forums have reduction drive. Is anyone using direct drive in their's and if so what. I have 2 x 6v in parallel SLA batteries fitted. Was looking at the low RPM Graupner 500E. MFA don't make the belt reduction anymore (but I do have 2 if needed). I find Graupner gears very noisy.
Cheers
Derek
