Thanks for the info guys .I like the sound of a smaller brain will fit motors and have a play(sail) to see how I get on before splashing(no pun intended)out on a mixer

I think the independent stick / mixer route depends on the Model. I have a Rother class, Slipway Teskoa & Imara Tug that benifit from separate stick control for manoeuvrability, ie steering courses. Then a Robe Dusseldorf that doesn't. My car ferry with twin screw & bow thruster, all independent control does a very impressive sideway crab into dock. With most of these for general sailing they run quite happily on right stick throttle/rudder control only with the left side for boost. But for fast patrol boats etc mixers are a must.
They're easy enough to fit/remove to see which you prefer.

No if your going to run it that way your not going to use mixers ( unless you have a computer radio)

To be honest I have little faith in that way of doing things. if you drive both ESCs and your rudder via a single mixer you have a much simpler control setup and will need a smaller brain plus only 2 hands.

There is an example of the sort of setup I was thinking of.

I am using left and right hand props as you suggest.I have 2x rudders linked to 1x servo will I need 2x mixers 1 for each esc.I was going to run escs on different channels one on each stick on transmitter

OK

if using BEC from ESC(s) remove the RED lead from 1 ESC. ( if not you may fry your receiver)

you may also consider 1 left hand and 1 right hand prop so you reduce torque effects.

fitting a mixer twixt throttle and rudder will allow you to get differential motor outputs as you steer.

Sorry living in the past it is a NIMH pack have got 2x15amp mtronik esc have not fitted prop shafts yet so could alter prop size . Trying to keep it scale looking hence the 30mm

Looking around the 385 is rated 6-15V

So you should be good to go just keep a check on ESC temps with your prop.

I am guessing you know about looking after/charging nicads ( can you still get nicads?)

Thinking of using 2x385 MFA/2xesc/2x30mm props can I use 9.6v 3300 nicad pack space is tight so want to avoid 12v sealed cell if possible boat is 33inch minesweeper
