Building Hull With No Bulk Head Lines

Morning,

Thanks once again for the response, had a look at the Forts can Parks and they are similar. I'll see if I can find some hull lines online and adapt them as best I can.

Thanks once again for the guidance.

Best regards

Building Hull With No Bulk Head Lines

HI Dave, The drawings you downloaded do not have sufficient salient points from which to reconstruct the hull shape accurately. There are some useful ones like around the stern counter, which might prove valuable.
The vessel looks a fairly typical inter-war British build tramp. it should not be too hard to locate drawings for a similar ship and use them as a base.
If all else fails you could even try the Liberty ship. There are many sources for those drawings and as the vessel was based on a British tramp design they should serve as a good base.
The Canadian build "Forts" and "Parks" were similar; they have a deck layout rather like the one you show but a Liberty style hull.

Building Hull With No Bulk Head Lines

Hello,

Thanks for the response, I've uploaded what I have. There are only 2 imaged (Bow and Stern) that show any form of regression down to the keel and that is only from the shelter deck to the main deck. I've also uploaded an image of the over all plans (again nothing to show any hull lines) an image of the ship herself.

I think my best option is to see if I can find any plans online for a similar looking ship and use those hull lines and Modellers license ( I think that what you said on your build blog 😊 ) to build her? Unless you can advise any further?

Either way thank you for taking a look.

Building Hull With No Bulk Head Lines

Dave, if you have two views that show the intersection of the various hull contours they can be plotted out to get the actual sections.
Rather hard to explain, but fairly straight forward with some drafting experience. Do you know anybody that can show you?
I had to do this to make up a set of plans for a SD 14 freighter a while ago.

Building Hull With No Bulk Head Lines

Hello all,

I'm looking into my next build, I've gone for a Tramp Steamer (SS / HMS Clan MacNaughton) I'm managed to get the plans from the Nation Maritime Museum which show the profile and over head view, problem is no Hull lines.

Has anyone had any experience in figuring out the hull lines? Specifically around the Bow and Stern? I'm fairly sure I can get the bulk of the hull sorted as looking at the plans it kind of looks like a box in water 😊

If no experience then any thoughts / ideas? I had planned to get the keel and bow / stern cut out then a few mid sections and then just trial and error the bulk head down to the Bow and Stern. If anyone has a better idea I'm more than happy to listen.

Best regards
