I have never used Westbourne Models myself. But with all I have seen here on this Model Boats Website regarding their bad service to our modelling community, I'm surprised to see that they are still listed on the Useful Links on this site ??

This is a multi re occuring event. Do all the credit card, tradiing standards and now the BBC have no sway over them. The account must be in chaos showing huge profits with stock stayingon the shelves. Some say if you call you get it. But even for UK people that's impossible. Again can't anyone shut the web site Dow.

Have a look at one of the previous posts, they have been on BBC about poor service, have a listen to the lies and evasion, pathetic!!!

Hi guys, I'm new to model boats, but have built and flown aircraft for years - never had a problem with ordering parts online, even from the US or China. I ordered a MFA torpedo motor and a prop shaft (standard fare for a shop catering to the model boat trade?). 3 weeks on, and still waiting - I too have had the same excuses, about having had to wait for parts to come in, "it's been posted, give it a few days" etc Etc. I've had enough of the vagueness as to when it was posted, the obvious lies and ignorance of calls and emails. I have reported to PayPal, which luckily means I'll get my money back. These jokers shouldn't be in business, and are to me an insult to the modelling community. I will take Vosper's advice and try Cornwall models in future.....!

Westbourne Models are useless, hopefuly you paid by credit card which means that you can reclaim your money through your bank. Personally I can highly reccomend Cornwall Model Boats.

I have recently been playing around with quadcopters and have found a number of model supply places that give good service.

Even items ordered from china have arrived ( 20-21 days) but they get here!

So it would seem to me that Westbourne models will soon cease to trade.

Yes I thought the answers were rather lame to say the least.

Thanks for adding the link I had been trying without success to find it for hours, listened to it now and not impressed with the excuses , economic climate/ resection if that was the case why do other online shops not have any problem, not wanting to advertise Other outlets but I use two of the popular ones mentioned regularly and NEVER had to wait more than three days......enough said.

Yes, I heard it too. No confidence in them, certainly in the short term and I doubt there will be a long term.

Heard an article regarding Westbourne Models on today's Radio 4 You and Yours. The guy from Westbourne didn't fill me with any confidence regarding doing any business with them.

You should be able to hear the episode on BBC Iplayer.

Sadly I also experienced problems with Westbourne Models. Like others here I had to ask my Credit Card company to step in by giving Westbourne official notification of impending action.

As mentioned earlier, had a similar experience.
Whilst the reason Alex was given could be accurate, must admit that the kids "dropping the ball" has never compromised their ability to debit credit cards!
Also got reimbursed by the card company, but that just drives all our costs up.
Likewise was in touch with the Editor of Model Boats as consider a magazine should be concerned with the integrity of its advertisers. Would be disappointing to hear that a newcomer to our hobby, frustrated in dealings with a supplier, could give it up.
It would be valuable if this website could offer a forum where enthusiasts could comment on their dealings with suppliers so could compare notes.
From my experience with this company, now always check on the internet for reviews, fortunately most suppliers have good ones.

Massive forum going on Meyhem about this shop. Hundreds of people affected, as your credit card company to get a refund. Such a shame this used to be a superb supplier, with big adverts in the modelling press, seems there is nothing behind the company but lies and deception

I placed an order in November 2015, nothing received. Phone messages and emails went unanswered. Eventually credit card company refunded the money (£44).

Spoke with the Editor of Model Boats Magazine last year, I had placed an order in 2014 for some Graupner figures. they charged my Credit Card but I never received anything from them not even correspondence. Paul told me that when the old man retired the kids totally dropped the ball, shame really as they carried nice stock. A lot of people here in North America have experienced the same things, I guess if you can go into the shop and buy something right off of the shelf you are ok.

Afraid so yes. Used to be good. Had a few issues last year. Ordered somethings via the on line site, waited, found that for some reason it had not been printed off to be processed. By then some items were out of stock. Then had to contact them for a refund of parts not received. Others at our club have made comments that they seemed to have gone a bit off.
When I spoke over the phone they were perfectly helpful apologetic.
I also find SHG Models and Jokita hard to communicate with also.

What is wrong with Westbourne Model Centre, I placed an order with them on 2nd January 2016, I appreciate that they have just moved across the road into new premises, I have emailed the three times with no answer I have tried to phone them more times than I can remember with not one call answered, It appears that they are good at taking our money but not very good at Delivering the goods or even responding to emails, and yet they keep advertising in the magazines. Has anyone else had problems with this company.
