So sorry to hear of this Peter. Hope all goes well with the move and keeping an eye on his widow.

I have exchanged a few emails with Ian. I was "made up" with the Vic Smeed S.S. Unity which he sent. Just too many projects on the go to consider it as a build now. It's one I would love to build at a future date though.

All the best,
Tony

Good morning Peter, sorry not been about much have been doing decorating in the house so put the model boats on back burner for the time being. We are well apart from waiting to be tested for the African strain of the virus as it's creeped into our area now so mass testing in certain wards in Southport. Sorry to hear that your ex sister in-law won't bring anything back for you that is mean. How are you and your wife keeping.....

Hi Peter, thanks for the mail and sorry to hear your friends have the dreaded Luffy. Have you thought about moving back to the UK to be nearer your sister as things cannot be as bad as South Africa. Taxman loves everybody even me as I get hammered on my shares with tax. Just hope over the next couple of months that this Luffy has calmed down once the warmer weather arrives and the vaccine has been distributed over the world. We are keeping fine staying indoors as much as we can do and just staying safe.

Checkup

Hi Peter, how are you and the family. Hope your keeping well and staying safe out there..... Your magazine should be with your Sister now checked on tracking and said it was delivered. Not done much on the model boat scene as still sorting the loft stuff out. Even found a Southampton tug I got the grand kids the other year so have been messing around with that putting the tyres on it and finding were to put the smoke oil in. Thanks to this website found the plug under the wheelhouse all working now.

Hi Peter,
I usually use Bangood as they have a logistics company in South Africa (Buffelogistics) and had no problems with them. Pay via Paypal as you can get your money back but they are also very good at refunding you themselves by using their systems.
With regards to Model Boats I stopped subscribing when Covid hit.
I am OK only had a touch of bronchitis when we moved to summer.
I look at the way the greater population group behave and despair as they hold parties etc. We had a funeral (tears after) down the road the other day over 200 people. Reported to SAPS and nothing done!
I feel that we should go back to level 1 as the only thing going to help is vaccinate. CR needs to control his own people!

Hi Peter, sorry to hear about the bad news on your friend and hope your wife tests negative sure she will do. Posted your magazine to your sister today so should be there in the next couple of days. We did a months shopping today so we don't have to go out again. Just hope this new Astrazenica vacince works as it's getting scary in this country now. Just hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. We have been told today by the prime minister that we could be in lockdown till march.

Stay safe and well

Happy new Year Peter to you and yours. Wishing you all the best for 2021 and hope this year is better than last. It's cold here in the UK and snow is on the way. Hopefully we can get back to some form of normality and everyone in the world gets the much needed vacince.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for asking i am not to bad.
Nice to know that you are well and your business is still doing well too.
I would be interested to see the kits you make, do you have a company website i could look at ?

Also thank you for the offer but i am still not motivated to get started on my model making yet.
Maybe after Christmas !
Altho it would be interesting to see the stuff you are getting rid of.(just nosy i guess )LOL!!
The way our lockdowns and restrictions are going i will be surprised if your sister will be able to travel in March/April but we can only hope.

Martin.
If it looks right it probably is.

Hi Peter, thanks for the best wishes for Christmas. We are not doing much only seeing the Grand kids as not seen them since April, so going to be a shock how much they have grown up. We have Facebook portal so speak to them every week but it's not the same as being with them. Thanks for keeping me updated with the parts and look forward to them arriving. I will post your magazine to your Sister in the new year as don't want it to get lost in the post over Christmas.

Many thanks once again Peter for all you have done

Christmas Wishes

Hi Peter, how are you and family, are you set for the festive season just around the corner. Wishing you all the best for Christmas and a very happy new year for 2021. Work finally finished now on our loft conversion amount of space is fantastic. Got my little model room now so even better....

Hi Peter, a very good evening to you. You a right about the old model shops sadly out of business, Liverpool used to have one called Stan Catchpole sadly no longer there and the other springs to mind is Jim Davies models in Birmingham again no longer there, Lesro was good but poor with the moulds being mainly abs, I had there Airboat and the Atlantic 21 rib lifeboat. If only the old model shops were there again we could have any choice of model we wanted, in Southport were I live there is a old fashion style hobby shop but not much good for boats. I will subscribe to model boats next year as you say paper is better than a digital copy.

Take care stay safe

Good morning Peter, thanks for the update. Soon we will all be able to go out again. Loft conversion is finished now just waiting on the carpet fitters to fit the carpets. I was cheeky and had a look through the model boats magazine as not bought one for years very interesting topics in it but has shrunk in size to what they used to be.....

Take care

Hi Peter, not sure if you got my last mail as the website seems to be having problems as people have reported. Hope your well and your magazine arrived the other day.

Hope to hear from you soon

Good morning Peter and family, hope you had a nice weekend and the weather there is not like here. Windy and rain typical UK. Have you started any other model boats? Mine is still on hold till the loft has been completed might be able to do some over the Christmas period.

Stay safe and well

Hi Peter, good to hear from you and hope your keeping well. Thanks for letting me know about the parts and if everything goes okay your end, tell your sister to let me know how much I owe for postage, extension on loft has been held up as we are on lockdown here now so the builders have delayed until lockdown finishes.

Stay safe

Good morning Peter, I am shocked how bad the post is there, thought our postal service was terrible since being privertised. I will wait till it's possible for them to be sent it's just me being eager that's what the wife says lol.

Have a great weekend and stay safe
David

Good evening Peter, sorry for being a pest. Could you find out how much it would cost in postage too send the parts for the fretsaw.

Stay safe
David

Good Morning Peter, sounds very tranquil where you live, I am by the sea also. About quarter of a mile away. Irish sea it's called. Forgot to mention the other day sorting out the loft I found a Kyosho Surfer MK1 about 2000 in the year forgot I even had it so a other project too restore. Loft should be completed in the next couple of weeks having to store the models in the garage which I don't like at this time of year. Is your Sister still planning to come and visit you.

I tried making a temporary plate for the fretsaw but gave up, so will wait till you are able to send your parts over

Take care

Hi Peter, how are you and did you have a nice weekend. I have had to put the Graupner Tina build on hold for a short while as having some building work done on the Bungalow nothing major just a loft conversion so can build the models up there in piece and quite. Thanks for the information you gave me and made a cover for the bench saw out of a disposable lighter as you suggested.

Stay safe and keep in touch

Good morning Peter, thanks for the mail and the advice you have helped me out with, I do have a couple of Hi tec radios myself mainly 6 channel and a couple of Futaba the Ex 40 and the pcm 40mhz 9 channel transmitter and matching receiver, that radio is used in the thunder Tiger Seawolf as 2.4ghz won't penetrate water also it's live feed to the surface. I used to be a member of the Southport model boat club, but since moving away never went. Now returning to my home town I plan on joining again have spoken to the Chairman of the club and re joining is not a problem, like you say this wretched virus is causing havoc we are in Tier 3 which is the highest grade in the UK, so no mixing allowed.

Regards the parts I will refund your sister the postage it's only fair.

My email address is mrdave@talktalk.net

Thanks once again Peter

Hi Red
I managed to get a load of mahogany off cuts and now have enough to do about 4 boats!
By the way Gauteng Model Boat Club and Centurion Model Boat Club exhibited at Hobby X 2020 but it was 30% flea market, Dremel and Torq Craft had decent stands
Only old in years not mind or soul.

Peter, when I get ready to start her I’ll message you. Might send a pic of what she looks like inside, but it’s not a pretty sight😮😂
#152
Doggone it Peter, now I’m gonna have to make something of her!!🤣
Thank you very much. You went to a lot of trouble, I do appreciate it. Do I owe you anything? I can PayPal you whatever it cost to get this done.
Thanks again. She might be next in line, or I might build something bigger, than start her afterwards. One of these days I’ll be able to redo my little garage shop and have 2 projects going at once.

Hi Peter. Don’t go to too much trouble, a 3 view is really all I need, maybe something showing where the original hatch location is. (I’m pretty sure it’s the main superstructure) I can measure and scale up from a 3 view, going to be a “stand way off scale” boat anyway.
Thanks!!

Thanks Peter. I really want to give her some attention and get her in the water. Dang it, wish I was retired, I’d have time to build, mess with the Studebaker, more time for family. Sometimes I think I like to build model as much as run them.

See:
Billing Boats - Junior Progress- J502

I did a series of building posts about 3 years ago.

Since then, I added a longer rudder and tied it into the bottom of the hull as some recommended to stop the rudder chatter.

Billings Progress

Hi Peter, thanks for identifying my little orphan Billings. I’ve done a preliminary search on the net for info on this boat and there’s precious little out there. I don’t need a lot, but if you have a 3 view of her I can shoot from the hip and try to make a nice model of her. I haven’t posted pics of the inside yet.....it’s not pretty😆
Thanks for your help!!

I built this junior Billings Kit and converted it to RC; it is one of my favourite, though only on calm smooth water.

Also, built a wooden storage/transportation case that I can share with you too.

Sea commander windows

Hi Red.
So far I have been unable to source a set of windows and frames.
You said you could supply me with a set of drawings in dxf.
If that is possible I would be very grateful.
I spoke to my old boss and he said if I can get the drawings he will try to cut me a set on his laser.
My email address is :-

coli_car@yahoo.co.uk

Don't worry if its going to be a problem for you.
Cheers Colin.

Peter,
I was rude and not quite myself at the time I sent you that email, I apologize. I should have just politely asked to be removed from your distribution.

Laser Cut Frames

Hi Red.
Thank you for your message, both invalids doing okay now.
I haven't sourced the window frames yet with all that's going on, but I will let you know if I need your pictures, as dxf files would be great if I need to get them made locally. Luckily I retired from engineering 15 years ago but still visit my old works to scrounge the odd bit of brass or aluminium, I'm sure the boss would cut for me on their new lazer.
Thanks again for the offer, cheers Colin.
Fair winds and calm waters,
