I have been looking for suitable kit. Most brushless motors are listed as xxxxKV,how does that compare with the Turnigy 900watt motor you quoted. Are watts the same as KV ? Cheers.

Many thanks for the info, sounds like a great set up. I am now even more convinced that brushless rather than brushed is the way forward. Cheers,

hi, yes have run the 46'' fireboat several times, starting with the Turnigy 900watt motor on 12v with 4600 cells and now up to 16.8 . performance is terrific, quick onto the plane and then fast ! Have not posted video yet but a still is attached. Turnigy 120 Amp ESC is excellent with 62.5mm Graupner prop, really smooth and progressive and motor sounds almost turbine like. Have fitted similar set up with 1450 watt Turnigy SK motor and 120Amp ESC with 14.4v into a 50 year old Sea Commander found on ebay last winter thatI have just finished restoring that also goes just great - still in base coat paint in picture

Have you had chance to try out the power set up yet. I am very interested to hear if it got up on the plane. I am restoring a 46" which has a single prop-shaft so would consider a brushless set up if I could find anyone who has had success with brushless.

Just finishing off the minor restoratation of a 46 In Firebboat bought from the faimily of a club member who sadly passed away earlier this year. I have just replaced the original Milliperm with a largish Turnigy motor with 120 Amp Hobbywing controller and plan to use a 55mm two blade prop and run on 16.8V (2 x 8.4 4600 cell packs). This Is my first trila with brushless but have seen the success of a couple of Installations at our club. Just waiting for the Ice to thaw now from our sailing water at Knightcote In Warwickshire to give her a trial !
