hiya shipmates,
thanks for that, I didn't realize they turned around on full size.
on my fireboat it has now got 2 forward facing and 6 rear facing so now everyone happy.

Archive pictures show vents facing front, rear and slightly angled, they would be capable of being rotated to suit requirements or conditions at the time. Remember also that a rear facing vent will draw air our due to the low pressure created behind the opening so combinations of vent positions would probably give a far better airflow than all facing forward. The air that goes in must come out somewhere!

The ventilators on all my fireboats are pointed to the rear.I Imagine if they needed more air they would turn them

titfa your find that most ventilators only face forward but a lot of them can be moved round to face backwards on the boat, as on the fire boat, so who will be the first one to put their vents backwards facing then

Hiya
what way round should a ventilator be
facing? doesn't make sense to me to face them forward, you may as well Install water scoops.
any one know?
