Sealing a hull up

Mornin' OT, yes you're right about the acetates; ester group used (or used to be?) for various synthetic flavourings. I remember the pebbles, real tooth crunchers 😲 so you had a 'sweet heart' in the factory Eh! 😉👍

Doug it was Vaseline when I heard that joke first. But yes dope and talc ( or possibly micro balloons ) but not all dopes smell of pear drops only if the solvent is Amyl/Ethyl Acetate. Same stuff two names but it would taste of the drops as sml amounts are used to give them that taste. Or it was.I used to get as much as I wanted from a lady friend (Platonic) who worked in the sweet factory. it was also used in seaside pebbles sweets. She smuggled it out in pop bottles. White lemonade of course. Those were the days eh?👍👍😋

Hi Boatshed,
If it is cellulose dope it'll smell like pear drops! Don't taste like 'em tho 😲

"Talcum powder? certainly sir, just walk this way", said the bandy legged chemist.
"If I could walk that way I wouldn't need the talcum powder"! replied the customer 😁😁 Oldies but goldies 😎

Sealing a hull up

Hi all just after a bit of information. I use to buy sand sealer from the local model shop but there no longer there so not able to get hold of any. What are people using? It’s not for the hull it for the decking and wheel house. Thanks
