Good idea about the cheese sandwich. You will already know about my low opinion of Deans perhaps, and getting technical and other details wrong?
Having said that, if you click the link, they do give a pretty good resume of the history of the MA/SB. http://deansmarine.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/10_14/products_id/2221

Mine was not one of their kits but came as a grp hull and plastic deckhouse. Stuff like the masts, hatch covers and lockers were scratch built

Thank you. In the end I used 'Lifecolor' acrylic paints, which although come in 22ml tinlets, go an awfully long way. You can also get a 'spray' like finish using a brush. I would highly recommend the brand.

Well done that man. Lovely job Re paints I've not been in a LMS for some time now but I recall Humbrol did an approximately double the size pot of the "Tinlets" Are they still made? Also Valspar and Japlac did small tins. Guessing about a quarter or third of a pint.

Ahoy there!
"at the risk of a flogging round the fleet"
Marginally better than a keelhauling I suppose😀

"officer on the port side is carrying his mobile phone"
Paint it yellowish white Steve an say it's his Cheese sandwich!😜
Why is Deans suddenly synonymous with mobile phones?
What era was this boat anyway?
Whenever I read of MAS boats I think of the Italian Navy in WW2!

Thanks Doug. Pics of the internals attached, sorry about the wiring, but however neatly I try to get it , it always looks a mess.
Sea trials report with video to follow.
I see you still haven't finished that bratwurst?

Another magnificent job Steve👍 and so fast😮
Can we have some pics of the internals and drive train please?😉
Was this a kit or have you 'scratched' everything?
Looking forward to the Builder's Sea Trials report very much!

Another finished project and I have been ordered, at the risk of a flogging round the fleet, not to start any more until the winter.
The close up of the deck shows the planking painted in blue B15, thanks for the confirmation reilly4.
You will see that the officer on the port side is carrying his mobile phone in his left hand. I assume that's what it is as the figure came from Deans.😜

Thanks for your advice gentlemen.
I have finished the deck and it doesn't look too bad.
Before painting, however, it will need careful preparation.
Whilst searching the internet for help, I came across this tutorial which some of you may find helpful.

Cheers
Steve

B&Q tester pots are a bit bigger and they mix to match. in fact i think they are called Match Pots.👍

Steve, That is the right colour. For a model that size consider just buying three or four tinlets. For my Fairmile D I needed much more, so had it mixed up at a local paint store once I got a tinlet and painted the colour on a test board. if you have it mixed you end up with at least 500ml. This colour photo shows the deck on a Fairmile D.

I have established that the decks on these vessels were planked and usually painted RN Dark Grey Blue B15.
Whilst I can source this paint in small amounts, typically 17ml, I am unable to find it in larger amounts.
The boat is 82cm long x 22cm beam.
Can anyone help please?
Thank you
Steve

My latest project, a 1/24 scale MA/SB is currently taking shape.
The vessel is based upon the 63ft BPBCo launch and I understand some had planked decks.
There is nothing I like better than planking a deck but I can find no reference to MA/SBs having anything other than metal decks.
My recommended reference book is Caostal Craft History Vol.2 which only tells me that planked decks were usually varnished whilst metal decks were usually painted grey.
Can anyone assist please?

Steve
