Hi Andy.
I trust you are well.
You should be proud of your endeavours from what I have seen.
I guess you live near CMBoats shop from what you have previously said.
Love your Flower class and what a fantastic thing to do for the fallen sailors.
I just love the little Flower Class and I must admit did treat myself some time ago to almost ready to run 1/48 scale from CMB.
First thing I did was strip it down and rebuild it.
I will send you pictures in due course if you would like.
I also enclose some pictures of my lates project HMS Victorious in 1/128 scale.
Looking at our boat site your planning on building a Schnellboat.
I have built one and will also send you some pictures if you like.
Enough of me.
Take care and be safe.
Regards a Bill

Just a note about the speed controlers, at the time it was hard and expensive to get high powed speed controlers, so these where moded by instead of the one fet it had four and they where water cooled, at the time they would take any motors you chucked at them Bulers 700bb pimans drill fan motors etc.

I use electronize units and have for a very long time, note the cover that was the norm years ago, this boat was fitted with trin 700bbs but because of the weight (a lot more than an Aerokits) it just had a big fan tail, these got it up on the plain with a Gel sell so nicads would have Improved it dramaticly, but at the time 1400 or they may have been 1700 scr's sub C where about as good as they got. so a 4.8amp dry cell was used I tried D type but they just got hot (so did the gell) but I got them for free at the time, it made a good steering boat, it was fitted with a Hunter mixer and was fun to play with, felt like a cheat on a tight coarse. HA HA.

HI Peter
Great to see a pair of Pitmans fitted into a nice wooden hull.
Those were the days when such motors were available.
I do hope les seeks a bit more advice on his chosen voltage - 18v on a 600 motor!!! Esc may also be a problem at that voltage.
Good to see such helpful advice being given with pictures to boot. I look forward to following the build.
kind regards
Dave

which boat are you building is it a new wooden kit or a fiberglass hull , have you thought of going twin motors, it can seem like more work but may be easier in that you don't have to have one BIG motor but two smaller, and also smaller speed controllers, it is also true to scale as both 93 and 94 boats where twin shafted.

HI Les
For the best performance brushless motors are the way to go. I suggest you look at other members set ups in All Things R.C - Power set ups. Even with the larger model Fireboat the lighter you build and install the better. This could mean using LiPo batteries. if you want the best performance you may have to spend some pennies!!
It may be worth posting your selection on the site before purchasing to see if anyone else has tried a similar setup. You will also need to match the prop to your chosen set up. This will have a marked effect on performance.
Good luck and please keep us posted. if you have a local club nearby I suggest you visit and seek their help.
Kind regards
Dave
