As you can see from the topic thread, I don't publish any plans which are currently being sold commercially.

I would satisfy individual requests via email if I had the data to hand. Unfortunately, I only have the Sea Queen and PT Boat in computer readable format and, annoyingly, can't find the paper copies of all the others.

You might like to note that the South African Model Products range were very similar to the Aerokits range - essentially copied. They are not original Aerokits, but if you want a small boat which is very similar in construction they would fit the bill. See http://oldboats.tk/ModelProducts.html

Hi Don
I have the plans and frames of the Sea Hornet.
I have built boat and it's a rocket !!
28mm brushless 1900kv on 3S with a 2 blade 30mm prop.
GPS at 45KPHour!!!
It would be better at 25% bigger to get your fingers inside to work on.
I have the Vintage Sea Commander plans with frames, but, I did not build the boat.
I brought one made, ran it for six months and swap it to a very nice Hellen fishing boat.
The Sea Commander is a smaller version Of the Sea Queen.

Yes thanks, the boat is basically finished however I would like to add some detail and liked the idea of the window frames.

Do you know of a supplier?

34" fireboat restoration

HI Mortimer
if you look up vintage model workshop they do the window fittings for the 46" fire boat.
They also make the full set of fittings as well as the tranfers for it.

hI rooky , not running any cooling yet , didnt notice any problems after three 11.1 v lipos had been used , motor was warm but not too warm to touch . we do have a water inlet in the hull , which is connected to a screen washer pump plumbed currently to the forward monitor ( it will be plumbed into both when weve got a " Y " peice adaptor )

HI John,
Looks quite good on the water, bow well up and planing, have you put in water cooling for the 600 motor and ESC?, as I originaly used a graupner 600, without cooling it, and it cooked really well!! I find when using LiPo's, it is worth cooling the whole system, or at least keep a check on the heat build up.

as a further update the model is almost completed , but is at least usable , its been tested twice this week at portsmouth , its now running a 600 low drain brushed motor direct to the single propshaft and turning a graupner 31 mm 2 blade carbon prop , mtroniks viper 25 amp esc ( fused 20 amp ) power is from a 11.1 volt 2200 lipo , run time per pack is around 15 mins

34" fireboat restoration

HI All
would just like to say that Jon is the genius behind the fire monitors, power, and wiring, I am sure he would help others if he can.
As to the colour we tried to bring it up to date as with some of the equipment as it has flashing blue lights, siren, also working monitors, surchlight, nav lights, etc however I did not have chancce to see the paint for the deck dry to see the finished look so things may change , there seems to be as many coloue scheams as there are boats.

hadnt given any thoughts to marketing the fire monitors , but should others want some Im sure its not a problem . the colour scheme has been down to the boats owner SURREYKEV . as to its power , its got a low drain 600 brushed motor and wil run on a 11.1 v lipo , havnt run it yet apart from in the household test tank so not sure what its performance will be . jon

34" fireboat restoration

HI Jon,
Like your scratchbuilt monitors, you will have to market them for other members to buy. Unusual colour scheme for the fireboat, it that your own idea? or have you seen one in that colour format, what are you using to power your boat? I am in the process of rebuilding the 34" and a 46" fireboats, I tried out the power selection of the 34" last Sunday, a brushless 2700KV motor witha 11.1v 3cell Lipo, and a X35 prop, WOW! difficult to keep it in the water, could not try full power, to fast and you really have to think about turning, and drop the speed or she would overturn, will post photos of both builds and running when time permits.

surrey kev has been back in portsmouth since sunday and has with some assistence been continuing the rebuild of his crash tender , most of the fittings have been fabricated ourselves including the operable fire monitors , all of the light fittings the mast and tow hook , hopefully over the next few weeks I will have bought some electronic switchers to make everything work from the transmitter !

34" fireboat restoration

the vessel has returned to portsmouth over the weekend for some assistance with its restoration , first task was to respray the black hull sides followed by the white superstructure , all of the navigation lights have been remade with super bright L E DS and brass housings . the window frame kit is now with me and in the process of being assembled before fitting onto the ss sides

34" fireboat restoration

may have to copy the nozzels we have , but turn some up in brass , we have already installed a 3mm pick up pipe through the bottom of the hull , the intention is to have at least the monitor on the forward roof panel working , as the engine room roof will conceal the motor drive batteries so will have a static unit .

34" fireboat restoration

Triumphjon,
Yes, you could try the Robbe or Graupner foam/water monitors, but they are not correct for scale or period, they are for mainly their own boat kits, White metal is fine, and very original to the Fireboat kit, I have never found weight a problem.

34" fireboat restoration

yes rockysailor its the 34" version , Ive seen the set of white metal fittings from slipway but Im not a fan of white metal , I would prefere to use something thats not only lighter but will also work ? we will possibly fit either graupner or robbe monitors , if possible id like some hollow cowl vents , at least they would help get a little fresh air down to the motor , and draw some heat out again !
#5

34" fireboat restoration

HI Jon,
is your fireboat the 34" version? if so there are a set of white metal fittigs available
from Model Slipway. They are fine if you are modelling the boat No:94, but if you want to do No:93 boat, they are the wrong foam monitors, hope this helps you.

34" fireboat restoration

no extra pics as yet , the window kit ordered on friday arrived this morning , kev is currently repainting the whole boat , before it returns to be rewired with new led lighting . drilling the oe white metal nozzles didnt work so will need to source some working replacements , id also like to know how big the cowl vents need to be ?
#3

34" fireboat restoration

thank you dave , Ive managed to locate some nos moniter nozzles that Im hoping to be able to drill out for some piping to make working units , however the lower portion may have to be fabricated ? details such as the raised sections on both cabin roofs and the hatches are the next area to receive attention . jon

34" fireboat restoration

HI jon
Looking good.
The original Aerokits plan is not very accurate in the detail shown. More of a general arrangement plan to show where the fittings should be placed. There was a kit of castings produced but no longer available. See pics 😊
The Plans and Docs section on this site gives much more detail and I suggest this is a suitable starting point. 😀
The fire monitors and window frames have been described in detail in past Forum posts and whilst some may refer to the larger version the size can be calculated.
I helped a friend sell a complete kit recently and attach the photos taken at the time. He also sold a larger version and the pics are of this model. Probably not all the correct fittings but hopefully a starting point.
Good luck with the restoration, and please keep posting the details so others can share your experience. 😀

34" fireboat restoration

although the bulk of this model will be restored by Its new owner surrey kev , The model Itself Is fairly sound and straight , over the weekend It has had a new m4 propshaft and replacement rudder unit fitted , a 3mm dia. pick up pipe through the hull before the whole Insidehas been coated In polyester resin and fine woven matting .After the original paint was stripped using nitromoors , the underside of the hull has been treated to some new spray and chine rails . unfortunatly the model Is missing many of her fittings , as weve not got the original plans , could anybody please advise us of the correct sizes for the fittings please ? jon
