Hi Cash,
I appreciate your concern and thank you for warning me of the Oklahoma insurgence. I do not think, as far as I can envisage, any interference from that source unless they have influence in the great Indian sub continent as this is where the attack originated, however, I will heed the warning. I wish you all good luck in your drive to subdue this pestilence from across the river. May Lt. Errol lead your forces to maintaining control of the situation once and for all.
Best wishes, Nerys

My dear Fleet,
Thank you for your concern over my recent unwelcome experience. I think I am quite capable of carrying out what necessary duties that are practical in our locked down lands.
I do however think that we might resume our Bristol Channel patrols. Sea airs are going to blow any covid away. Gatherings of 30 are allowed for outdoor activities, so I cannot see us being criticised for such activities. Frankly, I am longing to get afloat again and you can take that to mean both in reality and the reality of the MBN.
Once the NAAFI wagon is complete, we will show photos of the finished article. One of the next jobs for Alice is installing the communications equipment.
I must admit my health is far from what I would like, I am very weak when it comes to moving around or doing anything, but I shall carry on with my duties and a limited amount of boat building as long as I can.
Goodnight my good friend, I am just having a cup of tea and as it is only a little after 3am will then start fitting the foresail to MBNS 'Yantlet'.
All good wishes,
Nerys

Hello Nerys. Be advised that the Signal Intelligence branch of the Texas Navy intercepted some encrypted communications from the Oklahoma Rabbit Reserve, some snippets taken seem to suggest that they have some folks who are sympathetic to their cause abroad. You might keep an eye on that one nurse, make sure she doesn’t have an over attachment to carrots.
Seriously, I’m glad you’re ok. I wouldn’t be happy either, and I’m pretty sure they would hear me growling down the street!!

My word my dear Admiral Nerys!! 😮
No more scares like that if you please, bad for this old Fleet Admirals ticker!
Do you wish us to send a Marines Detachment over or do you prefer that your own MB-NCIS Dept. cover it?
Trust you are recovered from your regrettable experience and able to resume command of UK SW and Norwegian and Barents Sea areas.
If necessary Vice Admiral Colin H shall assume your duties for the SW-UK Command during your recuperation. Operations in the Norwegian & Barents Seas are herewith suspended until your full recovery. Units on operations in those areas shall be recalled to Base in Barry or 'quarantined' in Norwegian ports at your discretion Admiral.
Extra curricular, Goodwill 😉, visit to Colinland approved. My best regards and respects to the Vice Admiral.
Following reports on the progress of the mobile C2/Provisions Centre with great interest.
Suggest (not quite an order😁) that you upload Build Specifications to the MB_Navy site for archiving and prospective use in other MBN Commands.
BRAVO ZULU Admiral and Hon. Commodore Alice 👍
Activity in the München MBN Command is also subdued partly due to Covid restrictions, curfew from 2200 to 0500 🙄, but also due to ongoing negotiations with the BRD Government concerning the continued operation of the RN in Munich Detachment as a consequence of BREXIT! There is bureaucracy, more bureaucracy and German bureaucracy!!
Fare ye well Admiral 🤞

`Dear Fleet,
How nice to hear from you. I seem to have completely taken over the night watch, and just have a an hour or two of sleep at odd times during the day. At 5-30 this morning, I was sewing rings onto the luff of the foresail on our latest sail training vessel. Not a lot is happening in this command, Covid has certainly had an effect, but we can now make voyages over the border into England which means the occasional trip to Colin land, a most pleasant place to visit. Perhaps I should report an attempt at assassination last Saturday night. Sitting unhappily on my Dyalisis chair, I suddenly found blood pouring out of one of the tubes connecting me to the machine, Luckily there were three nurses within sight who quickly came to the rescue. It appears that the nurse connecting me up, did not tighten the plastic connector correctly when 'putting me on', and the pipe jumped off, consequently I lost about a pint of blood in less than a minute. I was not happy.
Work continues apace on the command and control NAAFI wagon. Alice is working hard on the electrics and she is hoping that she will be finished enough to allow us a couple of days cruising in about three weeks time.
Do I still hold command of the Arctic and Lofoten sea areas?
Our best wishes to you and Gisela.
Admiral Nerys and Hon. Commodore Alice.

“Have assumed temporary command of “Cottonmouth”, the PT of the Texas Navy. Have just started patrols of Lake Texoma. No contact yet with Oklahoma Rabbits of either their regular navy nor their Reserves. However, intel indicates they may try to deploy Covid laced barbecue on the Texas side of Texoma. Will investigate further. Boat will lay up next week to take on provisions and supplies, including Shiner beer for the crew and my weekly catnip ration. Will transmit our findings soon”

I doubt if they still have Beriozka shops in Russia any longer, I do have lasting memories of them in Moscow and Leningrad. There was a big one at the river end of Red Square if I remember correctly as well as in most hotels. They died out long ago in Romania, chiefly remembered there as a source of illegal money exchanges and a place to buy coffee to give to friendly Romanians, Oh! the tales of the Dollar shops, I could go on for hours. However, I digress Fleet, your message re vodka has been received and fully understood.
Cheers, Nerys

Agreed and approved VAdm Nerys.
When in Murmansk get me bottle (or two😉) of Stolichnaya, or even Beluga Vodka if you can find it!😋
Is there still a Beryozka shop in Murmansk I wonder? I suppose they don't need them any more now!

To, Fleet Admiral at MBNHQ, Munchen.
Thank you for your message which brought some relief. I had visions of a trip across the length of the Russian Arctic to approach the Bering Sea from the west. I have vague memories from my past of reading an article about someone who actually did that in a small boat.
I shall put the order for the ice breaker on hold for now.
Goodwill visit to Murmansk that's definitely on but I think I'd rather go to Kirkenes for supplies and fuel, the Russian trawlers do that.

FLASH MESSAGE TO VICE ADMIRAL NERYS
REF: "If I am to take command of the Arctic Ocean, Lofoten Islands, and, the Norwegian Sea which are all areas bordering Northern Europe, can you advise me what route to take when visiting the Bering Sea?"
Belay that order Admiral, was looking at the wrong chart😔😮
The Barents Sea was meant of course😉But staying outside Russian territorial waters, except for the occasional Goodwill / re-supplying visit to Murmansk perhaps.

That's quite an idea Colin, the rib might do for both purposes., though on thinking about it, there's not a lot of water in places around Hay. Covid refugees from Wales? quite likely, police patrols on the roads and you stopping them on the river, I can visualise it now, flotillas of coracles crossing the river and you sending them back, perhaps they'll set up a Jungle style camp somewhere on the border.
By the way if you acquire any confiscated or even bargain price salmon, I'm always interested.
Cheers Nerys

Thanks Admiral Nerys, I could always get an airboat, I could patrol upstream to Rhayader and downstream to Chepstow and keep watch for refugees from Wales trying to get into England or for those pesky salmon poachers.
Keeping a fast patrol boat at Chepstow for scudding round to Aberystwyth to visit mother.
As there's a lot of handy coves on the west Wales coast that could harbour smugglers I think a fast RIB would be best.
Further ideas gratefully received, cheers Colin.

Commodore Colin, you are more than welcome to use our existing facilities in South Wales and that would probably be better than trying to operate from Chepstow which is probably your nearest deep water as you would then have to negotiate the shallows of the Lower Severn. However I think it might be an interesting exercise to 'Show the Flag' occasionally in your home waters.

Martin thats a much better idea, with the negative ones to get extra rum rations.
If I'm to join the night watch crew then I'll need a couple of dredgers to get the Wye back to navigable as there are a lot of areas that aren't, caused by posh folk fishing for Salmon.
Pre ww2 some good sized boats were built in Hereford.
And traders would sail up to the wharf by the cathedral.
Otherwise I'll have to build a flat bottomed boat with wheels for the false shallows.
Cheers Colin.

Shall I give orders to immediately lay down an ice breaker and instigate Russian lessons for all ship's companies?

Thank you Lt Cmdr Cash👍
We know you will rise to the challenge, as evidenced by your rapid and effective response to your recent maritime setbacks.
We don't think that Lt Errol has too much to worry about.
As yet there is no evidence that our feline companions are susceptible to the COVID virus.
However, there is some suspicion that the Oklahoma rabbits may be carriers.🤔
Therefore we suggest that you redouble your Red River Patrol efforts, including giving Lt Errol temporary command of your most powerful asset, i.e. your PT Boat.
You will be required at Command HQ to monitor and coordinate the action.
Command decisions are often not easy Lt Cmdr🤔
Good luck in your endeavours🤞
Keep us informed.

Message to Fleet Admiral, RNHQ Munchen.
I wish to inform you that active patrols for the Bristol ChannEl Squadron will recommence following Lockdown on Monday 13th July. Details of itinerary are still in the planning stage, but you will receive full details later.
Both ships have had a full refit, the two watches worked alternate days in order to comply with Covid regulations. The hulls have been power-washed and repainted. Teak decks, sanded and scrubbed. Steel decks rust has been chipped, treated and painted. All upperworks painted and varnished where appropriate. All machinery fully serviced and replaced where necessary. All mattresses for both ships companies have been replaced with memory foam mattresses, New duvets have also been supplied. It is essential that the comfort of all crew is given priority, as it is anticipated that as our duties now extend to the Western Approaches, more time will be spent on board and at sea.
Further details to follow.
Commodore Nerys, Bristol Channel and Western Approaches Squadron.

Thank you for your congratulations Ken, As you say, our waters will soon be for our use again. I am very much looking forward to seeing your Veronica on the lake as I am sure after all these weeks of lockdown, you will have her finished.

To- Fleet Admiral RNHQ Munchen,
Good morning Fleet, thank you for your congratulations and I accept my extended sphere of influence with all due diligence and will look forward to working closely with the new Fleet Admiral Martin. It looks as if the Welsh Government will relax controls quite soon and we will then be able to recommence our patrols of the Bristol Channel, and now the Western Approaches.
Nerys. Commodore.

It is with great pride and satisfaction to be able to report that the PT15 has passed her sea trials and acceptance inspection. She ran with a 6 cell nimh pack for today’s tests. Seaworthiness was very good, maneuverability acceptable. It looks as if a slight upgrade in power would be in order, so she will probably be upgraded to a 2 cell lipo soon, which will necessitate a ballast change aft, but our chief engineer has signed off on her “as is”, so she will be added to the roster immediately, and added to the Texas Navy inventory. The issues she had earlier have been addressed, and as promised, patrols will start soon.

Hi Rick - we do actually have a town here in SA by that name - sometimes known as Vishoek in Afrikaans - but more often by its proper name Fishhook . Its not at the end of the line - more like middle - Simonstown being the end ............. perhaps its like a long weight.........
Hi Cash - we had a few for ours too - especially the FAF's - so also not able to post here.
There was however a combined base in the Zambesi Valley called Mukumbura - its biggest claim to fame was having a Surf Club - being a long way from water - and temperatures over 40c on a cooler day........

A gent stopped two people and asked if they could help with the location of a town
They agreed and asked what the name of the town was the gent said Fishhook looking at each other the two had never herd of this town.Asked him if he thought it was from around here he said I think so it's at the end of the line.

To- Fleet Admiral, MBN HQ. Munchen. One of these days, no doubt, we will be able to resume operations in the Bristol Channel. I very much regret the way we have been forced to stay in harbour over the last few months particularly with regard to the lovely weather we have been having. Apart from the serious side of our operations, whatever they are, think of the Banyan parties we could have been holding on Flat Holm or Sully Island, anchoring off Saundersfoot and sending the duty seaboat in to buy icecream for the ship's company, or anchoring off Aberavon and sending ashore for fish and chips from the seafront restaurant. Those were the days and with any luck they'll come back to us soon.

Reminds of a story i heard in Air Force days - two airfields were being set up in Northern East Africa - a request was made to HQ for names for the airfields. The Air Commodore in a very bad mood said - I don't care if you name them my a..e or my elbow ............
If you looked on the RAF maps from WW2 you will notice two airfields - one Myarsi and the other Myelbow.........
Funniest thing was everyone thought the names were from a local dialect.........
