Chief Cash! 😠
I'm disappointed in you!
I'll expect your recipe for whiskey bbq burger, seasoned fries on my desk at 0800 ZULU, 1000 CET, 0400 EST sharp.😋
THEN maybe we can turn a blind eye 🙈 to this minor aberration of yours.
Commodore is informed!

Your CO has been granted an HONORARY Commission as Commodore in the Texas Navy.
There are explicitly NO Executive or Command rights bestowed with this honour!!

But the Commodore just came aboard, Hi Ed!
I'll leave it to his judgement to take any necessary disciplinary action with the Texas Navy.
Hope he doesn't start another North vs South civil war!

Same thing happened to me one evening at Ramstein. The flight chief asked for a couple of volunteers, I put my hand up, and 2 of us went home early.
Same thing happened a few weeks later, we stayed late to run a jet, but I figured that would happen. It was swing shift, some nights we worked 7-8 hrs some nights 12😋

Re Indeed, Congratulations WO Nerys👍
The no volunteering rule sometimes has a catch Doug. My mate and I once volunteered to unload the 2 trucks after coming back from a few days on the firing range in Christchurch.
The F/S asked for volunteers, and as no-one in the squad put their hands up, my mate and I thought "stuff it, we're all going to anyway and it has to be done", so we put our hands up, and much to our surprise, the F/S said, "ok you two, bugger, off and the rest of you unload the trucks"
We were told later by a PTI to never try it twice with the same NCO, it would be second time unlucky!

Hi Joburg,
I think the reason you are getting all of these notifications is :-
When you follow a member or thread anything that is posted by said members or on that thread or threads the system automatically sends you email notifications.
In one way it is a good thing, that way you do not miss anything.
I get the same and I just filter through them and respond to the ones that concern me or the ones I feel that I should say something in reply.

As for non related hobby chit chat it dose happen so I suppose the only answer is to send personal messages.
But if you have three or four members in the conversion then this could be difficult.
Also having different time zones across the world conversions could only be interactive within certain times.
It is a difficult problem to resolve so maybe other members can come up with some suggestions.
I am not taking sides in this debate I am only trying to find a solution as this seem to be cropping up regularly.

You can switch off notifications if you go to your "profile", "my account" scroll down to notifications and then switch of the ones you no longer require.

Hey Guys, I don't want to be a wet blanket but I am getting smothered by chats (about 14 or 15 per day) that when deleted happily appear again. Recent chats seem to be totally irrelevant to our hobby so perhaps should be consigned to a location that can be accessed by members who would enjoy the general chat that is not pertaining to model boating matters.
Just a thought.

Semi diesel, I'm no mechanic, but I thought it was the type of heavy oil engine that was started by fuel being sprayed into a container called a 'hot bulb 'which was heated by a blow lamp until it vapourised and ignited. The heat of the combustion would then keep the engine running. They were quite common in fishing boats barges and similar small commercial vessels years ago.

The definition of Poleacre or Polacca rig is somewhat vague, I've never seen a definitive description, yet it often comes up when talking of older types of sailing vessels. From what I can make out it was originally a rig found in the Mediterranean, three masts, with a mixture of squaresails and lateens, but someone else could give a completely different interpretation.. However a Poleacre rig in the UK I have always understood to be a ketch or a schooner with the masts in one piece rather than separate topmasts and my guess is that Clara May would have been thus rigged at one time in the early part of her career.

Don't blame me if this is wrong, but it's the conclusion I've come to over the years.

Shame about the show Warrant.
Guess it's the same old story:- little or no turnover - no repeat show appearance.
In that respect we are all responsible: we buy online (cos we're too lazy to get off our b**s) so local shops go - so we buy online ...
Same with the show traders😐

"a 1/100 scratch built Bismarck in stainless steel"
Ye Gods and little fishes😮 What sort of masochist gives himself such a punishing task!?

Re Clara-
Full name Clara May, built 1891, a coastal trading ketch.
There were three of this type built somewhere in the West Country apparently.
There's a book on the three ships which you can buy, or find a library with a copy, here-
https://www.worldcat.org/title/agnes-the-clara-may-and-the-traly-three-westcountry-ketches-with-a-little-history/oclc/156891180&referer=brief_results
Have fun with her👍
Wishing you a peaceful watch Warrant.
I see that Lt. Marky and Chiefs Nerys and ChrisF have also reported aboard and that the Commodore is available👍 so the ship's in good hands and the Admiral can sleep soundly 😊
BTW Warrant: let's not stand on ceremony - just call me Admiral or Fleet 😁😂
G'night All, 😎💤💤💤
Just found some more Clara May info
"The Clara May was built at Plymouth harbour and launched in 1891. It was a typical west coast of England trading ketch which could enter and easily manoeuver in all kinds of harbours for loading and unloading of merchandise directly on the pier. At first it carried a polacre rigging (?) which was later changed to a ketch rigging, by which name it is known. In 1926 its rigging was reduced and it had a 2 cylinder 50 HP semidiesel (?) engine installed. The Clara May remained in service till 1953."
Maybe Nerys can explain what poleacre rigging is? I ain't got the foggiest!

I agree with Nerys, not enough traders, 8 I believe,
about half the norm. Even the boat clubs were displaying the same boats as last year, nothing really new, apart from a 1/100 scratch built Bismarck in stainless steel, will add photo's later when I get them off my camera. Quite a few bargains at the bring & buy stand, beautiful Model Slipway 'Maggie M' only £150 included ESC, Sound and full lighting, you may see on Ebay next week, but more money! I just bought a lovley model of 'CLARA' a billings boat, tried to find info on it, but no sucses, bought for £60 a steal😁, again will put a piccy of it tomorrow.

Not far out Doug, a tiny village about 10km from Lons le Saunier, just off the road over to Les Rousses and Geneva. Not as expensive as Geneva so a lot of Swiss are moving into the area and commuting. There was talk of the road over to Geneva being improved as well as a new fast train service from Lons. Don't know if it has been done yet as I haven't been over there for a little while since being anchored to a kidney dialysis machine.

Thank you for your offer to negotiate passage for the Welsh Navy up the Rhine, but do you know the number of ships in that august fleet, try googling Welsh Navy, you may be surprised. I think independance of Boris is essential, (in more ways than one!!!!).

Yes Marky, the zeppelin museum is there. Last time I went there was a few years ago, my sister and I had been on a land voyage to Romania and were returning to her chateau in the Jura via Germany. We were a few miles from the Bodensee on highish ground and were delighted to see a zeppelin in flight over the lake. Konstanz is a town on the lake I rather like and remember the revolving statue at the entrance to the harbour.
