Tell me, are you equipped with Geiger radiation monitors for your Hinckley Point control?
One of my early jobs after college was servicing the radiation monitoring sits around the nuclear power plants around southern England. In five years I never saw anything above the Cosmic radiation background count😊
Carry on the good work Sub.
Cheers, FLEET// 😎
PS was pleased to see that the LFG/RWN crews were seaworthy again😉
I'm impressed with your inter-operation and liaison talents 👍

Rear Admiral Figtree, assumed in Stateroom.
Wind SW force 5-7 Sea Moderate to Rough.
Patrolling tonight in conjunction with LFG Y Mers and LFG Henffordd. In view of heavy weather expected in the Western end of the channel, we are confining our activities to patrolling an area from Bridgewater bay along the Somerset coast towards Ilfracombe. This will put us under the lee of the land and also enable us to look at the sea approaches to the new Hinckley Point nuclear power station to ascertain vulnerability to seaborne terrorist attacks.
In view of the weather expected on this patrol, after consultation with the other units involved it was decided to operate with a sense of good seamanship rather than drive the ships too hard and possibly cause damage.

(I note with some disgruntlement that the Western Squadron are again operating independently and apparently under strict radio silence!😠 I trust that they have not been overwhelmed by the Oklahoma rabbits incursions!!)
Order supplements for tonight will be provided by our new Rear Admiral, code name Figtree!
In essence continue with patrols as planned but incorporate elements of the Admiral's Training Plan, in as far as they do not interfere with active interdiction operations.
Have a good night all.👍

Hope you didn't get breathalysed on the way back to port!? 😮
I'll be expecting the Surgeon Commander's requisition for extra Aspirins!!

Sunday 22/09/19
In consultation with the senior ratings on board, it was decided that an end of summer Banyan Party would be held today. Mess funds would stretch to it, so wives and girlfriends would also be invited.
Slipped moorings at 1100 hrs proceeded down channel on a westerly course.
Anchored in lee of Sully Island and ship's boats landed cooks and barbecue equipment to prepare for party. Rest of ship's company and guests then taken ashore. Jollifications and overeating then took place.
1530, ship's company and guests re-embarked and ship returned to base. Mooring at 1700.
A pleasant day for everyone concerned and considered a well worthwhile morale building exercise.

I have a partially built Deans Marine Wacht am Rhine that might be next up, but she’ll be civilian use only. However, the Japanese PT I’ve been referring to is a Robbe PT15 in my kit “stash”. That would also work well for the Western Fleet!

When they do return to duty, they might be interested in an old ferry, that was abandoned several years ago after attempts to run a night club on her along the North Wales coast. My informants tell me that she has been repainted black and there are reports of Zombies on board.

Sorry to hear of San Jacinto's troubles.
But I guess that's what happens when you ask a ship to do things she wasn't designed for!
Apropos financing of new river patrol vessel-
Suggest you take the Commodore for a romantic candlelight dinner in the best restaurant in your area of operations. I'm assuming you didn't mean Commodore Ed 😁😂🤣
The Dean's Marine Piber is an excellent choice for Red River operations👍
Their kits are excellent quality with everything you need except the electronics.
I have their HMS Manxman kit and was impressed with the quality, comprehensive fittings supplied and the build instructions.
Happy building.
Admire Lt Errol Cat's diligence in the anti-rabbit incursion patrols, but wonder if he may be distracted by fish contacts in Red River? 🙄

They are still on leave Sub😉
Thanks for the patrol reports.
Keep it up 👍

Hope the Captain wasn't pulling the scrumpy over your eyes! 😁
Explanation makes sense though.🤔

After successful patrol on 18/09/19, normal night patrols will resume for the BC on 19/09/19. Ship will resume normal appearance but disguises will be stored in dockyard in case they are required in the future.
Is the North Wales and Wirral flotilla putting to sea tonight?

Texas Squadron flagship “San Jacinto” maintenance complied with. However, I’ve been told by the chief engineer that she might not be with us for long. Having a hard time keeping flank speed due to inadequate boiler pressure, several hull cracks have been noted and repaired due to numerous run ins with Oklahoma insurgents, and she’s just old. I’ve taken the liberty of inspecting what’s berthed in the McKinney dockyards, several tugs and launches, a police cruiser and there’s a new search and rescue boat coming out of the yard, but nothing military capable. There’s still the option of the Japanese PT boat that is in CKD (complete knocked down) status, or I might approach the Commodore to see if funds can be released for something more suitable. There’s a builder on your side of the pond, Deans Marine I think is the name, has a riverine PBR that would be very well suited for the missions we get here. Please advise as to best course of action.
LT Errol Cat has taken the launch with a few marines to investigate rumors of more Oklahoma rabbit hit and run operations, I have full confidence in his capabilities to accomplish his mission. We have the San Jacinto steaming into Lake Texoma, will make full report soon.

BC day patrol 18/09/19
HW 9.21 wind force 1 easterly, slight swell.
Slipped moorings at base 0600. Heading West along Welsh coast. Ship has the appearance of a general work boat as a disguise. Passed Barry Island and sighted fishing boat heading into the Old Harbour. Old Harbour is unused though still designated a haven of refuge. Only practical landing place is Watch Tower Bay.
Very unusual to see craft entering the old harbour, so rounding the point, sent landing party ashore on Pebble Beach. They can make their way across promenade and grass area (site of former lido) to Watch Tower Bay beach.
Leaving WO Boatshed in charge took a boarding party to speak to fishing boat.
Came alongside, introduced myself and asked for explanation of his movements. By this time boxes were being loaded into a dinghy and taken ashore to waiting 4x4 and large trailer. My landing party are nearby watching.
Captain of fishing boat shows me his cargo manifest, explains all is legitimate and tells me what is happening.
Evidently whole thing started in North Devon and neighbouring Somerset. Local Scrumpy makers could look out to sea and see South Wales about thirty miles away whereas they were sending their produce at enormous cost on a 300 mile round journey by road to deliver to their South Wales outlets. They therefore asked local fishing boats for a price to deliver by sea. This was highly satisfactory especially as they would be able to deliver to beaches, thus saving harbour dues. The fishing boats looked upon this as manna from heaven as the restrictions on number of days they are allowed to fish, the species they are not allowed to catch and the throwing back, often dead, of fish they have caught but are currently banned from landing was having a devastating effect on their incomes. Most of the trade was being carried out from Porlock Weir and Ilfracombe mainly to the beaches on the Gower Peninsula, but Saundersfoot was used if there was too much swell on the beaches. He told me that he was based in the River Axe on the southern end of Weston Bay and usually carried Cheddar Cheese as well as Scrumpy as the makers were conveniently local to him. They are currently looking at other goods they might carry and some honey producers are interested.
The makers are thus getting lower delivery costs, hundreds of lorry miles are taken off the roads and the fishing boats are happy to have a new source of income. Evidently a couple of traditional sailing vessels are also engaged in the trade and a trial voyage has been made to Southern Ireland. I thanked him for his help returned to the ship, picked up the landing party, had a short cruise down as far as Porthcawl, then returned to base, well satisfied with the morning's work.
