Surfury

HI to all,
I was the person who bought the Surfury off ebay last week.
The hull is sound but very very heavy, the superstructure is slightly broken and crazing, so a little need of gel coat paste.
Going to put a brushless in it instead of the OS Ic engine thats in it at moment.
Would have liked maybe a mould from it, so to make a ligther hull.

Surfury

HI all thank you for your post tiggy_cat, Im very interested in a Surfury as I missed one off ebay last week.
I had one in 1974, sold it for A£15 because I couldnt afford the radio gear then.I contacted Jerome some 5 years back, about the mould, but was informed they had sold them a long time ago.
Please keep me posted as id like an electric and glow version.

I would suggest you try and speak to him on the phone, rather than try by email, as it does take them some time to sift through emails they get, plus its often not him or his wife doing the sifting and a lot of "junk" simply gets deleted, unless its froma dealer or supplier. he is quite busy, but mornings are better, he has someone in to assist mornings!
best of luck.
Best wishes.

Surfury

HI Gregg,

I did enquire of SHG several years ago about the moulds for their Surfury and Cigarette offerings of the 70/80's but they reckoned that the moulds were long gone. I have already sent Jerome an email re permission to copy the hull I have , either via licence of some sort or a contribution to a charity of their choice for each one produced.
If permission is not forthcoming, I'll just use the hull that I have for my own boat to go with the Cigarette.

Regards

Ian

Id make sure that Gerome [SHG] is ok about copying the hull first before making offers of replicas.
Best wishes.

Surfury

HI Vortex,

I recently bought an almost Immaculate SHG Surfury hull. Really too good to use as it's a museum piece!. I am thinking about trying to get a local firm to make me a mould off of it and get a couple of copy hulls from it. There is some possible interest in electric boats being used in the BMPRS offshore racing scene in future, particularly the vintage of Surfury,I have a Cigarette in build and the Surfury would match it nicely.
if I could get permission from SHG to copy their hull, would anyone be interested in buying one (cost as yet unclear?)
