Fleet System Radio control.

I have the digi-fleet omega just a bit later than yours but the inbuilt batteries are not charging right now.So I have changed to a 2.4GHz system yes you are right my tdigI fleet is set at channel 795 and you have to have a fleet receiver, speed controller even digifleet servos PFS-18 so I had to change everything.

HI Colin
Possibly. Power should not be a problem as an ESC normally uses less power than a servo (no motor to run off the receiver battery). However compatibility depends on the pulse width set by the manufacturer. Modern equipment is mainly standardised but was this was not always the case. 😰 Also some early receivers used different voltage rails for the pulses. 😰
Some modern ESC's automatically adjust to the centre pulse provided you switch on your transmitter before the receiver. 😀 in this case provided the Digifleet receiver has a high enough voltage pulse you should be OK.
Servos are a different matter and you may need to manually adjust the centre point by opening the case and resetting the internal pot. 😰
Quite takes me back to the days when I used to build my own equipment and such adjustments were standard! 😀
If you have a local electronics Guru with an osilloscope the receiver pulses for each channel can be easily checked.
Glad that you checked the neg wiring, black wires used to cause all sorts of problems and servo jitters were the cause of many a plane or boat crash.

Thanks Dave,
Have checked wiring, and found all negative wires black, so have taken no chances and rewired the whole system. Now seems to be more stable with no shake or shudder on servos.
is it possible to run a modern ESC with this type of system or do I need to carry on using the old type with sweep arm. And how much differance will it make to power consumption.
Thanks Colin.

HI Colin
What nostalgia. And your DEACs still work! if it were me I would check all the battery wiring for the dreaded black wire disease 😰 , just to be safe 😀 .

Thanks Larry and Dave,
Have had time to check out system now, and it all works as it should. The motor is a MABUCHI but what the rating is I've no idea, have added photos to help any interested viewers, if all goes well I will install it all in my sea scout.
Havent had much time for my models lately as our car was involved in accident and written off, so spent a lot of time finding a replacement, then had to repair stormm damage to my caravan roof before the wet got in. But hopefully will be able to get on again now.

HI Colin
I think Larry is correct. Look at http://www.iroquois.free-online.co.uk/fleetmx7.htm and you will see that Fleet Control Systems manufactured the DigiFleet range. 😊
If I remember correctly they were offered as self build kits so there are probably many modellers who actually built such a set.

I wonder if it's basically the same as my 35meg Fleets.... got any pics or part numbers?

Fleet System Radio control.

HI everybody In boatworld,
Have just been given a 4 channel DIGIFLEET CONTROLER AND RECIEVER with 4 servo's, a charger, and a small motor, looks about 540/600 size, but no markings. This system Is on 27mhz. Was In original packaging and still powered up when turned on, amazing as It hadn't seen daylight since mid 80's. The guy that gave It to me said It was bought In 1979 fo his dads model yacht.
but It was discarded when the new futaba's proved to be more reliable.
Could do with an Instruction book as no documentation with It and have had no luck on net. So any help or knowledge of this system would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading Colin.
