That's a lovely boat Roger, and very well presented,
I think you should finish the Neptune, as what you have already done, looks great.😐

Aha!
"RCMPV St. Roch is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police schooner, the first ship to completely circumnavigate North America, and the second vessel to transit the Northwest Passage. "

BRAVO ZULU!

Thank you Doug. The RCMP St. Roch has a fascinating history. I’ve enjoyed the build. The actual ship is a permanent exhibit in the Vancouver Maritime Museum.

Nice models,
It good to see a fellow model maker coming back to the hobby.

If it looks right it probably is.

Haydock Park 2019 boat show

Hi again Peter,

I must have started the Neptun some 30-40 years ago and this was as far as I got. I shelved it long ago and only recently started back into the model ship/boat hobby.

However, I am nearly finished a Billing boats St. Roch (static model) I started last year to get back into the swing of things. Some rookie mistakes but a great learning experience. Thanks for your interest.

Best wishes,
Roger

Many thanks Roger for that information, I was struggling to find the maker, I thought it was a Billings boat, but the German flag on the stern mast was fooling me. It is a lovley boat, and sails superb on a
7.2 v stick, would love to see your boat, if you have the photo's on your pc/laptop, take a note of the file, then go to 'post reply' on this website, and press the PLUS BUTTON on the right, and add the photo you want from the file you saved, hope that makes sense.
cheers, Peter(Rooky)😊

Hi Rooky,

I’ve been a member of this forum for a few years but never posted before. By chance I saw your post this evening. The Billing boat you are asking about is the “Neptune”. I started building it decades ago but, as we often say, life got in the way.

I took a couple of photos this evening of my build. I don’t know how to post them but will try tomorrow.

Best wishes,
Roger

Many thanks Doug for your searching once again, I will try under the name Artesana company, to see if anything turns up.😐

Hi Peter,
"Is this the boat named CARLA you spoke about Doug?"
No! The other Carla which cropped up recently turned out to be a trading ketch called carla May.
Built in 1891 in Plymouth. I also suspect that that was an Artisana kit and not Billing Boats.
(Note correct name of the Danish company😉)
There is no record in any Billing archive I can find of any ship or boat named Carla.
But several referring to a kit from the Spanish Artesana company.
The Bismarck model is incredible, see my post below.
Cheers, Doug 😎

Is this the boat named CARLA you spoke about Doug?
as I cannot find anything in Billings history of this boat.
BTW what did you think of the BISMARK?😐

Ok Now I understand Peter,
Substructure and decks are wood (ply), all the "decorations" are etched parts.
Nevertheless, the detailing is superb. A lot of very intricate work.
Thanks for the excellent hires photos👍
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS Night Watch is a storm in a tea cup. We'll get it straightened out.😉
More seem to enjoy it than complain so why stop it?
I'll just have to explain (once again🙄) how to minimise the Notifications and stop the 'flood' of mails in their inbox!
Live and let live!👍

Here are the photo's I mentioned on 'Night Watch',
of a Billings model, not sure if the name is correct, maybe the name of the builders partner? would like some info if possible as to the true name of the kit by Billings.

It looked like chat 'Night Watch' was getting bad vibes, so here is the photo's mentioned of the KM Bismarck, scratch built (not finished) in stainless steel, in scale 1/100, agree with you Doug, what a feat😮
