A hull of that shape would not be suitable for conversion to a stern trawler. That is virtually a planing hull whereas a trawler, stern, beam or anything else needs a heavy displacement type hull. In other words, a lot of boat under the waterline.
Cheers,
Nerys

Think they would be too lightly built Martin - trawlers tend to be a tougher hull - but seeing the hull stretched out like that - maybe a Liverpool type might be a better bet.
Saw a rescue boat ex SAN driven ashore at Cape Point (German built - double planked mahogany) - ended up 300 yards from the sea because of a spring tide and it hit the mouth of a small stream. Bottom smashed to bits in places - trawler could have just been hauled off with very little damage. A friend tried to salvage her and had started on it when Cape Parks cut her up with chainsaws. He rightly called them vandals...........

Hi Guys,
Were any of these hulls ever converted in to sturn trawlers after the war. ?

Saw your post re Liverpool Lifeboat etc Martin - the Brede would suit the hull well - if you look at it closely - same superstructure as the Liverpool - simply shorter . With your skills should be easy enough to modify the plan. Lots of pics on the internet and I have some rough drawing things that came with the semi kit . PM me if you want pics and whatever else I have.

Martin - the hull looks like a typical Cabin or Broads Cruiser too. No wonder you don't want to build as original.......
Dodgys idea of a water ferry is a good one or perhaps a Flying Bridge type deep sea fishing boat - something similar to the Lesro one...........
Dodgys magnet trick is brilliant - great thinking

Something different, eh......
How about a water-taxi?
Small boat used for ferrying people around harbours, sightseeing, etc. Lots of them around - almost all converted hulls of a wide variety of kinds, so your hull would fit nicely. It's quite wide, which is an advantage. Lots of images on the net...
At 1/25th scale, your hull would make a 50ft boat. The advantage of 1/25th is that you can buy cheap Chinese railway passenger figures at that scale - 20 for a bit more than a fiver. Which really adds to the interest, and allows for lots of detail...
Here is the Lark - a converted New England Lobster Boat which ran a ferry crossing on the Hudson river. And here is a partially built EeZeBilt model of it at 22 inches. The plans will be out when I can manage it...and finish the hull...😛
For this model I have magnets built into the sides amidships. The carrying box will include a plug-together floating jetty, which will also have a magnet at the end, and so a perfectly aligned approach should dock the boat correctly at the end of the pier, ready for the next load of passengers...

If you don't want a Fast Attack Craft, why not do away with all the superstructure and make her into a nice peaceful motor cruiser. White topsides, varnished wheelhouse etc.

Spiders haven't found our new shed yet. It's still under construction. Alice has been putting the cladding on the outside this last couple of days, but we are waiting for some Onduline ridge pieces to arrive before finishing the roof. At the moment, all I can find in it is the electric bike, Alice was given last weekend. No doubt the spiders will appear in due course.

Hi Martin.
At least you find interesting things in your shed. The most interesting thing I would expect to find in mine is a rusty nail. As for the spiders, better get used to them as those in the know say it is a good year for them and they should be in the house looking around any day now!!😁

I cannot promise to finish one project before starting another. I know, I tried.
I have a lot of those eight legged friends of your unwanted guests in my shed as well. Some of them are almost big enough to carry my boats out for me. I hate them. I would prefer to have mice I think.

Martin, not unlike the fast patrol boat you've just finished designing and building maybe it was locked away in your subconscious,
Beware the spiders ,Ziggy might want them back.

Well it's a typical fast attack craft, motor gunboat thingee as they used to be called isn't it. Not my cup of tea, but a lot of people love them, proved by the recent thread and umpteen posts for the new Eezebilt version.

Hi Guys,
As it has been a nice day I decided to shuffle down to my shed to get something.
By the time I got there I had forgotten what It was I went there for.
The first problem was the lock was rusted so that had to be freed, than I managed to open the door after putting some oil on the hinges.
I stepped in and WOW those Spiders are HUGE you could actually see the Tattoos on there legs.
After being chased out a couple of times by said Spiders I managed to get back in and start to sort things out.
Hiding at the back was an old cardboard box, I put on a brave face and snacked it away from you know who! and shuffled back outside to see what was in it.
And I found this (See photos)
The dimensions of the hull is:-
L 23 1/2"
B 7"
H 3 1/2"
I then gave it a wash with warm soapy water and left it to dry in the sun, the instructions are in perfect condition as they were in a plastic bag.
After looking at it and reading the instructions I instantly took a dislike to it.
Then my mind then began to start to run away with all sorts of silly ideas.
Maybe if I cut it and extend it make a totally different superstructure and deck or cut it in half and make a catamaran.
Anyway needless to say I have still not remembered why I went to the shed in the first place.
I would like to turn this pigs ear into a silk purse, so if you guys have any suggestions preferably with photos and/or links I would appreciate it.
I am not in a position to start work on it yet but soon I hope.
Man those Spiders!!!
