Well I've just tried to locate events near me, the calender view is very good and is easy to see when events are happening, but when I tried to view nearby all I get is a blnk page, I assume that this means that there is nothing happening in the west midlands. The National is too far to travel, its 130 miles from Hereford, and being a pensioner it sI too expensive to travel that far. Needs to be south of Shrewsbury, West of Birmingham, East of LLandrindod Wells, and North of Cirencester to make it within budget.
The events map is a great idea will it be Implemented.
Thanks to everyone involved in this site its by far the user friendliest modelling site I have come across, keep up the good work, fair winds and calm waters to you all.

It's already up and running. Quite easy to Implement really. Although looking at it again now, it's not clear how someone posts a new event which is fairly fundamental! I'll add a button to all the pages in the events section.

But yes, when someone adds a new event it will ask for the date, number of days and location. Once it's posted people can also mark their attendance. But with events all have a location assigned to them, it's very easy to display in a map. You can take a look now at: mdlbt.com/events/?view=nearby

Good idea Stephen. 😀 How do you propose to run this. Will Fireboat members be able to post events directly to the Events Map?

Yes, both those magazines and mayhem are good places to look. But as I'm always striving for Improvements on this website, I think it's time for us to have an Events Map! (a bit like the Model Boat Clubs Map) 😎

(we have to go one further than other model boating websites yes?)

Try looking in Model Boats or Marine Modelling international. Both give advance notice of upcoming model boat shows. I know there is a new National model Boat show in Leicester on 21 April, perhaps this may be near enough? Model Boat Mayhem also usually give details of shows but I think they have some problems with their server at present so some info may not be available.
