Thanks Dave M,and Larryehetton,
Looked at your suggested options, good links and found some usefull stuff.
Waverley models was well worth looking into as well.
But still I like to look at items before buying, call me an oldfashioned fuddy duddy.
Will hopefully now be able to source the last few bits for my Fireboat.
Great to have such helpfull advice from a Wonderfully knowledgable crew.
Thanks to all of you,Colin.

HI Colin
Have you looked in the Link section of this site. Peter Harvey's link ( http://pic6.piczo.com/fireboat ) has some excellent info which should help with your requirements. Some good pictures of how. Enjoy 😀

Thanks Gregg and Dave,
Have seen your replies and concur wholeheartedly, my main problem being able to get 1/16th fittings for my fireboat, 1/12th scale parts for motor launches,1/24th scale fittings.and other parts at scales I'm not sure of at present, its mostly finishing components such as deck fittings and navigation lights.
The main items that I need at present are the fire monitor bases and Navgation lights and tow hook for aerokits 34", Have made the Monitor jet heads from drawings suplied by peterHS93,they realy good and give good jet of water.
I'm able to do small turning or milling jobs to make my own parts when my Arthritis lets me. Also have a small fiberglass Dingy that my son and I use when we go fishing which I've been able to use as rescue boat when needed.(must get a small trailer)
Not stuck for motors or RC gear at present, am still looking for a local lake to use for club sailing activities, although I am lucky enough to have a dissused gravel pit only 200 metres from home, to trial my boats on.
Thank Colin.
Gregg are you near cannock as I've heard that there is a good model shop there.
Which club is nearest to Hereford.

HI Colin
I have to agree with Gregg, local model boat shops are few and far between. its a pity you could not find what you wanted at the recent show.
It may help if you were to identify the particular fitting bits you are looking for. Most of us have managed to find good reliable suppliers for our own restorations but they are not all usually in one location 😟
Many of us will have boxes of fittings for model boats that we purchased for long forgotten projects so its possible someone may have what you are looking for and be prepared to help.
I know you were looking for local clubs in your area and a good local club or nearby model boater may be a suitable source for you to see what's available.
As you make your own fittings why not post a few questions on our Forum. You will then have the benefit of how others have succeeded. 😀

To be honest, the number of model boat orientated bits is limited, a few shops "sell bits" but nothinh substantial. the majority now perfer to seel via mail order. "SHG" is a good one to look at, they have a decent web/shop site and based in Staffordshire. "Model boat bits", is another based in Telford. "Marks model boats" [MMB], is based in South Wales . Of course there are many many other online stores, Cornwall Model Boats, Westbourne model centre, Model Dockyard,Model Slipway, Howes models. if you are just after some drive motors or servo's then try Maplins, they sell MFA motors, MFA geared motors and normal size servo motors at competative prices.

The above is not ALL the stores about, but just some of the ones I can remember and use frequently myself for various bits and bobs.
Best wishes.

Model shop location

HI Fellow boaters,
Being In need of quite a few model boat fittings, as my wife and I are the owners of half a dozen models of various scales that require some TLC and refurbishment. We are having trouble locating Shops that we can visit that supply fittings, In our area (West Midlands, England.)
We have spent hours on the net trying to locate shops, but to no avail,
and buying of the net hasn't worked out for us, as we've had a few dissapointing purchases, so prefer to see Items before we buy. We went to national boat show at Coalville, WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT that was, after a two and half hour journey (each way) also A£35 fuel costs. I've seen larger club shows, Its a shame that we don't get shows In our part of the country.
If any one knows of shops or shows In my area please let me know.I live In Herefordshire near the Welsh border. 60 miles From Bristol, Cardiff, Shrewsbury,Birmingham,Swindon.
Well thats my gripe over for now, back to making my own fittings while I'm still able.
Thanks for looking,
Colin.

COLIN.
