Grease
The picture on the right is by Silver Hook. You can find it on EBay for about £5.00.
The other picture shows a waterproof grease which I mix two parts to one with some light oil from the bottle which was originally used for my Mum’s sowing machine.
Both options work well.

Grease
I use normal multi purpose grease and thin it a little with 3 in 1 oil.
I mix in just enough oil so that it softens it a little then squeeze it in using a syringe.
It also makes it a little easer to clean out and replace.

Grease
Prefer oil, the grease seems to solidify and drag, whilst the oil just slowly emulsifies with the slight water ingress.
Must add, always fit shaft oilers and oil prior to each days use. The shafts are removed and cleaned every season. Have never noted any wear bands.
Am interested in other opinions but oil (regular light engine grade) works best for me.
