How to set up boat motor equipment

Very good source of boat wiring diagrams -
admittedly all based on ACTION Electronics
hardware which isn't expensive.

There are loads of setups for different boats -
you may find the information you are after

Dont forget to have a good look through the boat build threads too, as no doubts some of them may give you some insight too as to where to start and how to do things.
Plus if ever in doubt............. ASK.... we're all here to assist where possible!
Best wishes.

How to set up boat motor equipment

HI Dave,

Thanks for the recommended book source, I'll let you know how I get on.

I also located some tutorials on uTube which I'm currently viewing and I'm sure these will be most helpful once I start to build.

Thanks again 👍

How to set up boat motor equipment

HI Bill
From your previous experience I guess you may be thinking of some form of motor cruiser but it could equally have been a motor yacht.
If you look on the Traplet (MMI publisher) and Model Boats (Nexus publisher) Websites they both offer books for model Boat builders. I bought Scale Model Boats, building and operation by John Cox from the Traplet stand at Blackpool and this gives a good basic overview. Was issued in 2002 though so the radio info may be a bit dated compared with modern 2.4Ghz sets, the author is a well respected modeller and his methods are spot on.
Good luck with your reading. Please share the details of any helpful books or papers you come across.
Best wishes 😀

How to set up boat motor equipment

Thanks Dave,

I am currently reading both of the mags you recommended and am getting some feel for modelling and yes this is new experience for me. I am a boater from many years back having motored in Canada, USA and The Bahamas. Those days are gone now but my interest in model boating will serve as a reminder as to how it was, without the storms and related hazards of life at sea.

I am now going to look up your recommended web site and from there possibly further my knowledge of the small boat world and the driving force under the deck boards.

If you happen to know of a good book/manual available that guides a person into the construction and technical details of Model Boat building I would appreciate your input. A book/manual might be more specific and concentrated than the magazine items that are less frequent, I want to gain as much knowledge as possible in the shortest possible time, knowing full well there is a lot to learn for a late starter.

How to set up boat motor equipment

HI Bill
Welcome to the site. When you say new do you mean new to modelling in any form? Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs it is difficult to give general guidance. A good place to start is in the sites " All Things RC " as this gives some good general advice on basic details and set-ups. There are two model mags that carry information on general model boat building - Model Boats and Marine Modelling international and both should whet your appetite to get started.
If you have a particular motor and controller set up please give a few more details. 😀
