Coronavirus Towboat

Nice work.
A splash of colour will really bring her to life.
Red and black are colours that are used regularly, but i think you should do what makes you feel good, after all she is your boat.

If it looks right it probably is.

I have the same kit with the running gear as a Christmas present a couple of years ago. I like your super structure, looks great.I live in NJ/USA.

Coronavirus Towboat

Here is my coronavirus build.

When everything shut down here in Pennsylvania U.S.A I looked around for a simple boat to work on. I had a Zippkits tugster that I received as a prize at a boat regatta so I thought I'd see what I could do with it. It is a simple thing meant as a retriever for a disabled model.
This kit is basic, but pretty nice. Wood is of good quality and laser cut parts fit together well, all for only $29. I used only the hull and built the superstructure from scratch out of 1/8" plywood based on pictures of towboats and tugboats. It is totally fictitious, "there ain't no such boat". Scale is 1:24, 1/2" = 1 foot, that makes the 18 inch model into a 36 foot boat. Same is true of the winch, I looked at some pictures of towing winches and made one up that seemed plausible. I will also add some operating lights.

Radar will rotate thanks to the sacrifice of a very old servo. It's easy to do, just remove the decoder from the servo and cut the stop off the gears. I've done this before, turns about the right speed with 1.5V provided by a "C" battery. I may make the winch operate using the same method just connect a destroyed servo under the winch and join the two with a belt drive.

Propulsion will be from a basic 540 motor with a steerable kort nozzle made from a plastic bottle and 40mm prop.

Now I thinks it's time for some paint, I'd like to make it slightly colorful; but haven't decided yet.

I am open to any suggestions or comments.
The sure way to succeed is, just try one more time
