I have 3 of the Multiplex Cockpit MMS in my “stash”. Two of them I bought about 8 years ago, almost new. My intention at the time was to fly one, use the other as a backup for my other, original Cockpit that I had since 2000. It has been thru hell, as it was my RC combat radio, and in the course of a match it would get exhaust blown on it, sticky substances stuck to it (we would coat the wings to help grab and break streamers) and I know it was dropped more than once. I converted it from the stock 6 cell pack to a 2 cell li-ion pack, and when I quit flying rc combat, I used it for some of my old timers. It sat, unused for a few years as my attention turned to rc boating, and a few years ago I converted it to 2.4 using a Frysky internal DHT or “hack” module. I still have it as a backup to my Taranis, and it still works. The DHT module was designed to allow people who have older radios with no external RF module to be able to convert their existing transmitters internally. Unfortunately, FrSky discontinued the DHT module, but it now looks as if they have a replacement on the way, an XHT module, that works the same way, just updated with a “smart port” feature that I’ll never use. However, it means that people with older transmitters can upgrade to 2.4 again, however once that’s accomplished, that radio will only be able to use recievers that will work with FrSky’s ACCST protocol.

My best contributions to the 'Vintage' (25 years+?) collection are-
Sanwa Irvine F6 Conquest 35Megs and a Graupner mc-10 40Megs.
The mc-10 being one of the first 'entry level' micro-computer sets!
Bought the Sanwa early '80s in UK and the mc-10 ca '87 in Munich.
The Sanwa came with a modified MacGregor charger!
Both are still going strong! Even survived my mods😁

I lived just down the road from the Flight Link site in Hounslow in the 70s, Staines then Sunbury, and drove by almost daily for years when I worked in Brentford, without even knowing they were there. Wouldn't have mattered much though at 189 Quid a shot in '78🤔

Also had to smile when I saw the old Radio Regulatory Dept. address.
Brought back happy memories of working in Waterloo Bridge House for several weeks with a great bunch of guys. First programming the ATE system for Mobile Radio Type Approval Testing then a monitoring system for detecting and finding errant transmitters!
We also used the monitoring system to tour around and find the first cellular radio sites in southern UK. Happy days 😊

Lovely to see the old gear still in use.
Attached is a couple of pictures of my oldest set,a KO-Digiace.
The RX is crammed inside one of my Flower class so not easily seen.
The batteries in the TX are still the original and are still perfect at holding the charge for a good hours sail.
I bought this set second hand in 1981 and I have no idea when it was originally made and sold.
It just goes to prove that the old gear lasts for ever .
