Working Hydrant

Thanks Dave M & Chris Lang.
What a fantastic resource this website is! Your replies are safely stored in my "Model Boat" file, and have given me the confidence that in due course I can overcome the hydrant challenge, and get plenty of advice when I need it.
Thanks again.

Working Hydrant

HI Roger
Robbe sell working fire hydrants that work quite well. You may need to restrict your pump as the pressure will be quite high and I have had problems with the pump separating on occasion. Really depends on the scale you need to use. in essence the workings are a bit of bent pipe and a fine jet. The mount and body can be made from plasticard and old biro's etc. There have been Forum posts on home made fire hydrants so I suggest you have a scout through the build blogs on thios site.

Working Hydrant

HI all - new boy on the block here.

I am returning to model boat building as a retirement, get me out of the better half's hair hobby, and am considering a fireboat or similar. The problem which I am looking at Is how to make or buy a working hydrant. I can do the pump etc, but the metalwork needed to make a realistic looking hydrant from scratch Is beyond me. I want something reasonably powerful.
All Ideas and thoughts gratefully received.
RogerS.
