I visited the Museum of the Broads often and was a friend of the museum for many years. I always admired the models of the wherries. They were quite substantial models and, yes a briliant little museum that developed a lot over the years. I particularly enjoyed trips on the steam launch Falcon

I often wished I'd lived nearer the Broads so that I could sail there more often, and Eaton Park looks like a lovely place to sail model boats, especially with that fabulous deco clubhouse. I fell in love with Broadland in about 1989 and did the eight hour drive from Devon every year for about twenty years, and sometimes twice a year. Our favourite spots were above Potter, Hickling and Horsey. In an ideal world I'd have my ashes scattered on Heigham Sound!😀

Jacko, thanks for posting that Broads site. It brought back many happy memories as we spent twenty years sailing in the Broads. We haven't been back for a few years - things seemed to have changed too much.

It was interesting to see pictures of the pub at Potter. It was there the first few times we went and it's absence seemed to knock a big hole in the place. Similarly with Martham Boats when they knocked the old green sheds down and removed all the old houseboats - just never the same afterwards. I know it's progress!

A wherry would make a very interesting project Nerys, I didn't realise there were grp hulls available.

Very interesting, I've been having thoughts of Norfolk Wherries too. I can't make up my mind what to build next and a wherry is one of the contenders. If I do, I'll take the easy approach and buy a hull from Dave Watts, Mastman.
