Paddle Steamer Waverley

What excellent news shame she's not coming down South loved seeing her in Portsmouth dockyard. Also managed a trip years ago when she sailed out of Helensburgh Scotland 😊
Learning so much more with each reply to my posts. One day I may have a boat in the water 🤔

Great news. It is really nice when these historic masterpieces are kept in such good condition that they can go on for years. Must eventually be like Triggers broom. Had the same one since he was a boy. Only 10 new handles and 12 new heads.😀

That's great news for us all to know that she is properly underway again, and particularly for the folk who will be able to book trips on her. Hopefully, we'll all get a piece of the action next year.

Cheers, Nerys

I know that until there is a vaccine for the virus my wife (Nancy) and I will not take a chance on travel. We had planed to go to San Diego and San Francisco in Sept. but that will not happen especially to the US right now or near future .

It's possible Mark. They say they are going to run some trips on the Clyde later in the year, but I can't see Alice and I going over to Ilfracombe until next year, and I say that hopefully.

That good news for thous involved in the refit.Hearing the engine's must have given great joy. If you have been a round the running of a steam engine it seems to rumble threw you.For me it gives me goose bumps feeling the noise and vibration.

Waverley's new boilers were lit for the first time on July 24th and tests have been ongoing since then. They say that it is nice to feel that she is a real steamship once again. A decision will be taken shortly regarding any passenger activity this year, but if there is, it will only be a few trips in the Clyde area. She will not be carrying out her usual round the coast voyages.

Cheers, Nerys
